At the end of the workday, Susie left the office early. As she reached the entrance, she saw a familiar car and man, frowning.
"Get in the car."
Lawrence opened the door, gesturing for her to get in.
Susie glanced at him, then at the passenger seat.
"Your car is better suited for other women."
She turned and walked away.
Lawrence caught up and grabbed her arm, smiling, "No other woman has ever been in this car, just you."
"I don't need your explanations. I find it disgusting."
Susie couldn't shake his grip, glaring at him.
Lawrence remembered that Rachel had indeed sat in the backseat the day he took her to the hospital. He suddenly didn't want to use this car anymore.
He pulled her toward her own car, "We'll take yours. I'll have this one sold."
Lawrence tossed the keys to the security guard.
Susie was momentarily surprised but quickly masked her reaction, glaring at Lawrence and deliberately opposing him.
"I'm going on a date. What's Mr. Sutton doing here?"
"I don't have a date tonight. Eating alone isn't fun. How about I join you for dinner?"
Lawrence smiled shamelessly, taking the keys from her and opening the car door.
"Lawrence, don't you think you're being a nuisance?"
"Not at all. I can keep an eye on you, make sure no one takes advantage of you!" Lawrence nudged her into the car, quickly shutting the door and getting into the driver's seat.
Susie gave him a cold look, still annoyed, "Get out!"
She was meeting Cyrus for dinner, and Lawrence's presence would ruin it.
Lawrence's large frame felt cramped in her car. He turned to buckle her seatbelt.
"Can I at least drive you there?"
He stared at her firmly, "Refuse again, and you won't have any date at all."
Susie laughed in exasperation, "Do you think threatening me works? We're not related anymore, understand? I'm free to date whoever I want! It's none of your business!"
"Are you sure?" Lawrence leaned closer, his hands on the back of her seat, their faces inches apart.
His intense masculinity surrounded her.
Susie's heart raced.
Ashamed by her crush for him, she felt annoyed.
Lawrence didn't explain further. He kissed her lightly before sitting up and starting the car.
Seeing him driving attentively, without looking at her, Susie glared at him, then rubbed her lips angrily.
"Where do we go?"
Lawrence asked, focusing on the road.
Susie pouted, sulking for a while before answering, "G Restaurant."
Lawrence's expression darkened, jealousy evident.
"Cyrus booked it?"
He dared to choose a couple's restaurant.
Cyrus was bold!
"I booked it!" Susie smiled brightly at him.
Lawrence suddenly swerved, pulling over to the side of the road.
