In the following days, Rachel's life was anything but pleasant. Susie took her to meet clients, making her drink all the alcohol.
Naturally, she was groped often by clients.
Rachel knew Susie was trying to force her out, but her pride wouldn't let her quit.
Despite the tough deals, Susie secured several contracts, showcasing impressive negotiation skills. Clients knew she was David's treasured daughter and dared not cross her.
Besides, with Lawrence backing her, who would dare offend her?
Naturally, any client anger was directed at Rachel, her assistant.
"You're really capable. Clients keep praising you. I'll give you a bonus this month!" Susie generously promised as they returned to the office.
"Thank you, Ms. Morris!"
Rachel gritted her teeth, feeling no gratitude. She believed she deserved it.
Susie glanced at her, "You can go."
Seeing Rachel head next door, Susie's eyes narrowed.
She stepped out and saw Rachel asking a secretary to bring food to Lawrence's office. Her expression turned cold.
She walked up, smiling, "Miss Keats, you're so generous, bringing food for everyone. You should thank Miss Keats, everyone!"
"Thank you, Miss Keats!" The staff cheered, grabbing the food.
Rachel's face turned green with anger.
Susie smirked, watching Rachel's forced patience, "Miss Keats, get back to work!"
Rachel swallowed her anger and left.
"Ms. Morris, would you like some?"
"No, I ate outside! You enjoy it. If there's not enough, buy more downstairs, and I'll reimburse you!" Susie smiled, refusing to touch Rachel's food.
"Ms. Morris is so kind!"
"Thank you, Ms. Morris!"
The secretaries thanked her.
"You're welcome. I'll be in my office."
Susie greeted them warmly before entering her office.
Lawrence returned, seeing her. He wanted to call her, but she went straight in.
It's been days, and she's still upset?
He sighed.
He brought in a box of snacks and placed it on her desk, "Freshly made. Have some!"
Susie noticed Rachel had just given him the same snacks she liked and Lawrence loved.
She glared at him before turning back to her work without a word.
Lawrence looked puzzled, wondering what he had done wrong.
"Did the negotiations not go well?"
He asked softly. They should have gone smoothly. He had spoken to the other party. No one would dare disrespect his wife.
Unless those companies didn't want to work with Morris Group.
She was being difficult, picking the toughest deals. If he hadn't intervened, she wouldn't know when she was being taken advantage of.
But Susie was capable, squeezing profits from those deals and leaving the other parties frustrated.
"The contract is ready to sign!" Susie replied, continuing her work.
Lawrence opened the box and fed her a piece of the snack. Susie, caught off guard, found the soft durian-flavored treat irresistible.
Lawrence left quietly.
Susie took a look at him. She was unable to resist the food, ate one piece after another.
