The next day, Susie visited Morris Group.
She saw Rachel and her expression turned cold.
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm an employee of Morris Group now, what do you think?" Rachel replied, her eyes filled with hidden resentment.
If it weren't for Susie, Lawrence wouldn't have rejected her and tried to get rid of her.
She had contributed a lot when the new company was established.
Susie sneered and walked straight in. This woman couldn't stay in the company.
She couldn't believe Lawrence's promise. He clearly couldn't let go of this woman and brought her to the Morris headquarters.
"Miss Morris, I'm capable. Lawrence can't do without me, unlike you, a pampered young lady who can't help him at all!"
Susie was furious. She turned and glared at Rachel, "What capability? Pleasing men?"
Rachel's face turned pale.
She clenched her fists, suppressing her embarrassment, and retorted, "Miss Morris, you don't understand marketing. It would be disheartening for your colleagues to hear that!"
She was with men for the company's business.
"You're so impressive!" Susie retorted with a sarcastic smile and took the elevator up.
Boiling with anger, she went straight to the CEO's office.
"Lawrence, fire Rachel!"
The room fell silent. All the executives were in a meeting.
"You’re here!" Lawrence was delighted to see her and got up to pour her a cup of water.
The others exchanged glances, then quickly left, sensing the couple had something to discuss.
"Fire her!" Susie insisted. Just seeing Rachel's face made her want to throw her out.
She might not have many skills, but she could certainly fire someone.
Lawrence hadn't expected her to run into Rachel. He pulled her behind his desk, but she shook off his hand and glared at him.
"Sit down and have some water before we talk."
Lawrence sat her in his chair and offered her the water.
Susie glared at him, placing the water on the desk.
"Lawrence, why haven't you fired her?"
Seeing her so angry, Lawrence explained, "Rachel is competent and useful. Did she say something to you again?"
She was clearly agitated, likely provoked again.
Was Rachel overestimating her importance?
Constantly upsetting Susie was a bad move if she wanted to stay at Morris.
His eyes flashed with determination. He reassured Susie, "I'll handle it. Don't be upset. It's not worth it over her!"
"You don't want to fire her, do you?" Susie grew angrier at Lawrence's high praise for Rachel.
"It's not that. We can't find a replacement right now. She's handling marketing." Lawrence smoothed her hair. "We need a reason to fire someone."
"In other words, you just can't let her go!" Susie scoffed.
She stood up to leave.
Lawrence grabbed her arm, "What did she say to you?"
Susie wasn't the type to be unreasonable.
Susie glared at him, her eyes red, "Does it matter what she said?"
She yelled, "I just don't want to see her! Morris Group doesn't need such a woman!"
Call her petty, call her unreasonable.
She just didn't want to see Rachel.
"Alright, alright!"
Seeing her upset, Lawrence hugged her gently, patting her on the head.
"I'll fire her right now. Don't be upset."
The loss of their child was still a wound for her.
"She said she's indispensable to you, that I'm useless to you. Am I useless and unreasonable in your eyes too?"
"Not at all. You're amazing. She's just trying to upset you. Do you think I can't achieve anything without her?"
Lawrence was furious. Rachel clearly didn't heed his warning.
If she pushed Susie too far, she’d have to face the consequences.
He cupped Susie's face, gently wiping her tears. "No more crying. I'll have her pack her things right now!"
As he comforted her, Lawrence called Finnegan, coldly ordering, "Fire Rachel. Now!"
He put away his phone, picked Susie up, and sat her on his lap in his chair.
"She's gone. You'll never see her again. I should've fired her sooner. I'm sorry for causing you so much pain."
He wrapped his arms around her, apologizing, "Susie, I’m sorry for what happened to you and our baby. I was too lenient with the enemy."
Rachel should have been dismissed long ago. But without professional faults, firing her would have been difficult without reason.
Susie cried, thinking of their lost baby, feeling heartache.
Lawrence kissed her hair gently, his eyes filled with worry.
She hadn't recovered from the trauma...
