Lawrence stared at her, finally agreeing to her demand.
"Fine, I'll sign."
For now, he'd go along with her.
The doctor had warned him she couldn't take any more stress.
He took the papers, sat on the sofa, and flipped to the last page.
His gaze lingered on her signed name, a bitter smile tugging at his lips.
He hadn't imagined things would come to this.
Lawrence picked up the pen and swiftly signed his name in the husband's spot.
Then he closed the papers, stood up, and handed them to her without any extra expression on his face. "Is this enough?"
Susie took them, checking to make sure both signatures were there.
Ignoring the pain in her heart, she turned and walked upstairs.
Lawrence watched her go, unable to resist stepping forward and wrapping his arms tightly around her from behind.
"Honey! For—"
Forgive me, please?
"Let me go!" Susie demanded harshly.
Lawrence's body stiffened, his hands trembling slightly before he released her.
"Lawrence, don't call me that again. We have no relationship anymore!"
Susie coldly threw out the words, then walked upstairs with her back straight.
Lawrence stood there, his eyes full of sorrow as he watched her.
In a strong voice, he declared, "Susie, I love you! I have always loved you! That has never changed."
Susie hesitated for a moment before quickening her steps up the stairs. At the corner, she collapsed to the floor, hugging her knees tightly as tears streamed down her face.
From now on, they would be nothing to each other...
Lawrence, you gave me so much beauty, so much of the sweet love every girl dreams of. I had it all.
But now, when I see you, all I can think of is the hurt. I can't forget it. I can't pretend it didn't happen and stay with you.
"Susie, take good care of yourself. Don't cry too much, it's bad for your health!" Lawrence called out, hearing her sobs from upstairs. His heart twisted in pain.
But with him near, she would only put up her defenses, not letting him close.
He feared her condition would worsen.
"Remember to go to the hospital for your follow-up when you visit your dad. Don't make them worry about you!" Including me!
Susie's sobbing intensified. Hearing his voice made her suddenly want to stop crying.
She wiped her face clean of tears, sniffed, and shouted downstairs.
"Get out!"
Hearing the strength in her voice, Lawrence felt a bit of his worry ease.
"I'm leaving!"
Naturally, she didn't respond.
Lawrence touched his nose, turned towards the kitchen, and instructed the servants to take good care of her before he left the Morris house.
"Lincoln, I need to talk to you!"
Lawrence sat in his car, his gaze fixed on her bedroom balcony.
He glimpsed Susie's silhouette, as if she was secretly checking to see if he had left, which gave him some comfort.
Susie must be hiding something, insisting on this divorce.
That day, she had left the hospital and her attitude towards him had changed.
Could she have gone to the office and seen Rachel kissing him?
He dialed Finnegan's number as he drove towards the law firm, giving instructions.
"Finnegan, pull up the surveillance from the third. Check it thoroughly to see if Susie was there, and don't let anyone else know!"
He had reviewed it multiple times and hadn't seen Susie, but he might have missed something.
"Check the surveillance around the company too, thoroughly!"
