"Susie!"
Lawrence hurriedly pushed open the hospital room door, but Susie was nowhere to be seen, and his heart skipped a beat.
He turned and ran to David's room, but she wasn't there either. Lawrence grew more anxious.
"Mom, have you seen Susie?"
Lorraine noticed the sweat on his anxious forehead and was puzzled, "Isn't Susie in her room?"
She had come over to take care of her father just an hour ago.
Susie had said she wanted to sleep, so Lorraine had come over here.
"She must be downstairs. I'll go find her!" Lawrence turned and ran out.
Lorraine frowned, growing worried as well, and quickly called her daughter, but the phone was turned off.
"Where did Susie go?"
"Don't worry, let's look for her first!" David tried to comfort his wife, though he was also anxious.
He wanted to go search, but Lorraine pressed him back into bed. "I'll look for her, you stay here!"
Lawrence searched the hospital downstairs but couldn't find her. Desperate, he kept calling her phone, but it was still off.
"Susie, where are you? Please reply when you see this!"
Thinking she might have blocked his number again, Lawrence left messages on various communication platforms.
Where had she gone?
Lawrence almost turned the entire hospital upside down looking for her. Finally, he rushed to the monitoring room and saw footage of Susie leaving the hospital. His eyes narrowed.
Just as he was about to run out to find her, he saw her despondent figure walking back, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
He was really afraid she might do something drastic.
He ran over and tightly hugged her.
His breath came in gasps, full of worry.
"Susie, where did you go? Do you know how worried I was? Your body hasn't healed yet, why are you running around?"
Susie was startled. If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would have thought Lawrence genuinely cared about her and was doing a perfect job of it.
But recalling how he had been kissing another woman not long ago, Susie pushed him away and slapped him hard.
Slap!
The air instantly grew still.
Lawrence looked at her in disbelief, not understanding why she had suddenly become so cold again.
"Susie?"
She seemed like a different person.
His heart tightened as he saw Susie's swollen eyes. He softly asked, "What's wrong?"
She had been crying. Why?
"Did someone bully you!?"
He reached out to pull her closer, but Susie dodged his touch. She reverted to her recent behavior, coldly glaring at him.
She was like a hedgehog, fearing more harm and raising her spikes in defense.
"Lawrence, don't touch me. You disgust me!"
Lawrence's heart constricted painfully. His lips moved, his voice choked, "I disgust you?"
"Yes, you disgust me. You all disgust me!"
Susie roared, her eyes red with anger.
Seeing her in such a hysterical state, Lawrence bitterly forced a smile and suppressed the pain in his heart.
He reached out and gently coaxed, "Come upstairs with me!"
Susie looked at him mockingly, no longer swayed by his sweet words. This man was utterly untrustworthy.
"You received the legal notice, right? If you don't sign, I'll sue you!"
Her icy words made Lawrence's face stiffen. Suppressing his anger, he asked, "Why do you suddenly want a divorce again?"
"Seeing you makes me sick!"
Lawrence kicked out in frustration.
Susie flinched.
His kick landed on the table corner beside her, sending it flying. The loud noise attracted more onlookers, and the hospital nurses glared at Lawrence.
"This is a hospital. Please keep quiet!"
Lawrence's chest heaved with anger. Ignoring everything else, he grabbed her hand and dragged her towards the elevator.
"Let go of me, you bastard, scumbag, jerk..."
Lawrence pulled her into the elevator and pressed her against the wall, kissing her fiercely.
Susie fought back, thinking of his entanglement with that other person, and her resistance became even more frantic.
She balled her fists and pounded on his body, but the man always had the upper hand in strength. She couldn't push him away.
Suddenly, Lawrence stopped, seeing her tear-streaked face and the hatred in her eyes, and he felt a pang of reluctance.
"Ugh... cough cough..."
Susie turned her head and retched.
Lawrence's face darkened. Did she find him that disgusting?
He let go of her and, seeing her still retching, mockingly said, "Do I disgust you that much?"
He kicked the fire extinguisher in the elevator corner.
Susie was startled. She felt a bit touched but suppressed it.
A scumbag doesn't necessarily hit women.
There was no need to be moved by such a small thing.
Her face grew colder, and she looked up at Lawrence defiantly, "Can disgust be faked?"
Seeing her pale face, Lawrence gritted his teeth, glared at her, and walked out of the elevator.
"Lawrence, what will it take for you to sign the papers?"
At this moment, Susie only wanted to sever ties with him.
"Do you want divorce that much?" Lawrence's pupils contracted as he turned back, glaring at her in anger. How dare she bring it up.
"Yes, I can't wait to cut ties with you immediately. I don't want to see you for even a moment. I told you, I'm serious about the divorce!"
Seeing her cold and determined expression, Lawrence's anger surged.
"I told you, if you want a divorce, get your health back and then talk to me!"
Ignoring her, Lawrence walked out of the hospital in a fit of anger. Lorraine saw him and hurried over.
"Lawrence, did you find Susie?"
"She's in the elevator... She's emotionally unstable. Please comfort her."
With that, Lawrence walked out, his face dark, got into the car, and drove off quickly.
He feared if he stayed, he would lose control and hit her. He wanted to tear her mind open and see what was inside.
Lorraine hurried over.
Seeing her daughter squatting in the elevator corner, her heart skipped a beat, "Susie, what happened? Did Lawrence bully you? Tell me, and I'll teach him a lesson!"
"Mom, I want to divorce him!"
Susie looked up at her mother with tearful eyes, speaking firmly.
Lorraine was stunned. Weren't they doing well? Why does she want to divorce again?
She didn't dare to ask the reason out loud and could only go along with Susie. "Alright, divorce him. Your dad and I will take care of you for the rest of your life. Don't cry! Come upstairs with me!"
Lorraine quickly closed the elevator and hugged her daughter, comforting her, not daring to mention Lawrence again.
