Lawrence indeed kept his word. He filled the financial gap in Morris Inc. using his own company.
Now, his Misusie Technologies was a subsidiary of Morris Inc., which had resolved its crisis. The shareholders of Morris Inc. had to admire Lawrence's maneuver.
During the years he held power, Lawrence didn't miss an opportunity to leverage Morris Inc. for significant achievements at Misusie Technologies. Under his leadership, Morris Inc. also entered a new development phase, showing impressive performance and profits, which benefited all shareholders greatly.
With Lawrence at the helm, it was nearly impossible for Morris Inc. to fail.
David's condition improved, bringing joy to Susie and Lorraine.
"Susie, come here," David called, beckoning his daughter closer.
Susie, dressed in a hospital gown and wrapped in a coat, walked over and sat beside him.
David took her hand, his gaze searching her face, noting her much-improved complexion.
In a calm voice, he asked, "Do you hate Lawrence?"
When he first learned that everything was orchestrated by Lawrence, he was furious, seeing him as an ingrate.
But he realized that he was partly to blame; otherwise, Lawrence wouldn't have taken such actions against him.
Lawrence had sacrificed his own happiness in the process.
David was old, and Morris Inc. needed someone strong to support it. This way, even if he and Lorraine were gone, Susie would have Lawrence as support.
During his hospital stay, he reflected a lot and concluded that what mattered most was their family's welfare.
"Father," Susie took a look at her father, her thoughts in turmoil.
Her father's hospitalization was indeed caused by Lawrence.
The loss of their child was also partly his fault, but she was the one most to blame for her impulsiveness.
Lawrence didn't know she was pregnant.
Seeing her turmoil, David sighed heavily.
He lovingly patted her head, advising, "Don't take things too seriously. I can see Lawrence is sincere. You both need time to cool down. Don't do anything impulsive that you'll regret forever."
Lawrence had made amends, giving him peace of mind. He believed Lawrence would treat his daughter well.
"Dad, aren't you angry with him anymore?" Susie asked, looking at her father.
"I was very angry at first, but health is more important than anything else," David replied with a smile, trying to ease her worries.
"If it were you, wouldn't you seek revenge? Lawrence has a good heart. Otherwise, he wouldn't have saved me. His father died indirectly because of me. If he can put aside his hatred and save my life, what more can I ask for? As long as he treats you well, I won't hold anything against him."
"You're so kind, Dad!"
Susie hugged David, tears welling up.
"You lost a child, but you can always try again. Your mom told me he's been running around, secretly keeping you company at night, afraid you'll find out. The chicken soup you drink is made by him!"
"That child was not meant for us. He feels bad too, and it wasn't his fault. Don't blame yourself."
"Everyone makes mistakes. I'm fine now, aren't I? Focus on getting well. Everything else can wait."
Susie nodded, sniffing, and gave her father a reassuring smile.
David smiled, gently pinching her nose. "That's my girl. You had us worried sick with your gloomy face!"
"I'm sorry, Dad," Susie apologized. "Your health is poor, and I made you worry."
"You're our treasure. Of course, we're worried about you. Even when you're old, we'll still worry. Don't say sorry to me, silly girl!"
Susie chuckled.
"Hurry up and drink this chicken soup before it gets cold!" Lorraine urged, serving them each a bowl.
"Mom, I'm so tired of chicken soup..." Susie protested, making a face.
"Even if you're tired of it, you have to drink it if you want to get better!" Lorraine scolded, blowing on the soup and handing it to her.
Then she picked up the other bowl and sat beside her husband to feed him.
"Finish it all, no wasting!"
Susie stared at the non-greasy chicken soup, knowing Lawrence had made it, and felt warmth in her heart.
He made it every day without complaint, despite being so busy.
She picked up the bowl and took a big sip, her lips curling into a smile.
