"Before you get out, sign the papers first!"
Susie grabbed a pillow and threw it at Lawrence, hitting him squarely.
Lawrence paused for a moment but then walked out.
"Susie, let's stay calm!"
Shawn, seeing Lawrence leave, stepped forward to comfort Susie. "Don't get so worked up; it's not good for you."
Susie bit her lip hard, clenching her teeth. "Shawn, print another copy. I'll sign it, and you send it to him!"
Shawn saw how angry she was and sighed, patting her head gently. "Susie, it seems like Lawrence didn't actually cheat. Maybe you two should talk things over first?"
Lawrence had probably made Susie misunderstand on purpose, trying to divert her attention.
He brought this on himself!
Susie glared at him, throwing off the covers as if to get out of bed. "If you won't print it, get someone else to help me!"
Shawn quickly held her down, nodding urgently. "Okay, okay, I'll print it for you. I'll get you ten copies and find the best lawyer for you. Just stay in bed. The doctor said you shouldn't get worked up and need to rest."
He picked up the pillow, fluffed it, and helped her lie back down.
Seeing that she wouldn't calm down anytime soon, Shawn went to find a printer and made ten copies, then brought them to the hospital room.
Susie signed the papers and instructed him to send them to Lawrence before pulling the covers over her head.
Shawn sighed softly, trying to comfort her. "Don't be stubborn, okay? Don't make Mr. and Mrs. Morris worry. Just rest."
Seeing her so stubborn, he arranged for someone to keep an eye on her before going to handle her request.
...
"Who authorized this?"
Lawrence slammed the documents onto the meeting table, his entire body radiating anger. His commanding presence made everyone flinch, and they quickly looked down, not daring to speak.
"Is everyone mute? Who gave the order?"
Lawrence's face was livid, his sharp gaze sweeping over everyone in the room.
"Lawrence, our goal has always been to take down Morris Inc. This is the best time to buy up their stock. If we move now, Morris Inc. will definitely go bankrupt..."
Finnegan, who had been with Lawrence for a long time and knew about his desire for revenge against Morris Inc., spoke up, worried that Lawrence's outburst might affect Rachel. He nervously explained, bracing himself.
Since knowing Lawrence, he had never seen him this angry.
Everyone else nodded, agreeing with Finnegan.
Lawrence squinted at them, his gaze cold. "Stop all operations immediately. Did you all ignore my previous orders? Who told you to do this?"
Everyone looked at each other in confusion.
Rachel saw his regret and felt a pang of sorrow. He was stopping the attack on Morris Inc. for Susie's sake?
She stood up, looking straight at Lawrence. "I told them to do it. Finnegan is right. You've always wanted to get back at Morris Inc. We've all been working towards this day. What's wrong with acting now?"
Finnegan tried to signal her to stop talking, but Rachel ignored him. She didn't realize the severity of the situation and boldly admitted her actions.
It was a waste of his speech just now.
Lawrence's eyes flashed, staring directly at her.
Lawrence didn't say a word, but his gaze made Rachel feel a lump in her throat, embarrassed and ashamed.
"Am I the boss, or are you?" Lawrence's anger was palpable.
That sentence was a slap in Rachel's face.
Everyone looked at each other, realizing something had changed between them, and no one dared to speak.
Rachel forced a bitter smile. "Lawrence, of course, you're the boss. I'm just an employee."
"Then remember your place! You have no decision-making power here." Lawrence gave her no face, coldly warning her.
If it weren't for the fact that she was his savior's woman, he wouldn't tolerate her antics!
Pushing his limits repeatedly, his patience has its limits too.
Rachel's face turned red with embarrassment, and she covered her face, running out.
"Rachel!"
"Rachel!"
Finnegan and several other executives felt bad and wanted to comfort her, but Lawrence's glare made them sit back down.
The atmosphere was tense and oppressive.
"If any of you are unhappy, you can leave. I won't force anyone to stay. But here, all decisions must be approved by me. I don't need people who don't follow my orders. If anyone wants to leave, go to finance now. I'll make sure you get double the severance pay."
Lawrence's gaze swept over them.
Finnegan and the others exchanged uneasy glances. They didn't want to leave.
"Lawrence, I'm not leaving!"
"Lawrence, I'm not leaving!"
"Lawrence, I'm not leaving either! Whatever you say goes. I won't defy you again!"
Everyone expressed their loyalty, afraid that Lawrence might kick them all out.
Lawrence nodded slightly, tapping the table.
"We were wrong, Lawrence. Please don't be angry. We thought you'd be happy to see this! We did it for you. We'll follow whatever you decide from now on."
Finnegan, seeing the pleading looks from the others, spoke up again.
Everyone nodded in agreement. "No more defiance!"
Lawrence let out a small, amused sound but didn't pursue it further. "I'm giving you a chance to disagree so no one can say I'm a dictator."
"Who would dare?" Finnegan chuckled, joking. "Lawrence, you're the best boss I've ever had, not a dictator at all!"
Lawrence glanced at the flattery. "I bet you're cursing me in your head."
"I wouldn't dare!" Finnegan exaggeratedly shook his head, afraid of being noted.
"Haha!" Everyone laughed.
The atmosphere lightened considerably, and people felt comfortable talking to Lawrence again.
"Lawrence, what should we do next?"
"Everything stays the same except for Morris Inc.," Lawrence reminded them again, pointing at them. "Don't go after Morris Inc. anymore!"
"Yes, Lawrence!" Finnegan and the others responded in unison.
Lawrence nodded slightly and left the meeting room.
Rachel was in the hallway, wiping her tears. Seeing him come out, she wanted to approach him but hesitated.
Lawrence walked past her without stopping, ignoring her completely.
Seeing his cold demeanor, Rachel felt deeply hurt and almost stumbled, "Lawrence..."
"Rachel!"
Finnegan and the others came out, seeing Rachel nearly fall. They quickly went to support her.
"Rachel, the boss didn't mean it. Maybe he's in a bad mood today. Don't take it to heart!"
"Yeah, the boss treats everyone like that. He'll be fine once he calms down."
"Don't cry. The boss will cool down soon!"
Rachel wiped her eyes, sniffed, and smiled. "I know. I was just upset for a moment. Thanks for caring."
"No problem, no problem!" Finnegan waved dismissively.
"Even when crying, our understanding Rachel still looks beautiful!"
"Haha..."
Everyone teased Rachel, seeing her mood improve before gradually dispersing.
"Don't be upset. You've known the boss long enough to understand his temper. He might seem harsh, but he'll cool down soon enough!" Finnegan patted her arm, trying to comfort her.
"I know, it's fine. You should get back to work!" Rachel smiled and nodded.
Finnegan smiled back and walked away to attend to his tasks.
Rachel's smile faded as she looked toward Lawrence's office, feeling anxious, hurt, and unwilling to accept defeat.
