At ten months, my belly was quite large. Xavier had already learned about Lamaze breathing techniques, painless dilation, and using a contraction timer—all essential for childbirth preparation. He had also placed the hospital bag in the car's trunk well in advance.
So, when my water broke in the middle of the night, I felt no panic. Xavier's hands shook slightly as he drove; he admitted he was nervous, excited, and happy all at once.
I responded with a smile now and then, but mostly I remained quiet. Thinking the pain was keeping me from talking, Xavier sped up. The city's nightscape slipped by the car window, and I felt a constant tension until we safely arrived at the hospital.
Only then did I relax, gently touched my belly, and whispered, "Be good, they allow you to be born now."
......
Xavier often consulted me about the baby's name. Each time, I replied, "No rush." As a result, now everyone gathers around a four-pound bundle, calling it "Little Baby."
Xavier sat beside me, holding my hand and giving me gentle kisses, his eyes filled with smiles. I smiled back.
The doctor said I could go home in five days. I asked if I could stay longer.
"Why?" the doctor inquired.
Clearly, I had no reasonable explanation, just whispered, "Because of some unforeseen circumstances."
