Xavier cleared out the small compartment. His mother moved in with her two large bags of luggage. All my clothes were moved back to the bedroom. Although the wardrobe was stuffed, Xavier never suggested I throw anything away.
However, his mother started criticizing and complaining almost immediately. Her sarcastic remarks targeted me directly, accusing me of being wasteful and capricious for buying so many clothes. She criticized me for wearing makeup and going out while pregnant, calling me unruly.
After staying for two days, she noticed that Xavier prepared breakfast every day and even washed my personal clothes. Her resentment grew: "I don't know what sins my son committed to marry a daughter-in-law like you, who doesn't do housework, and can't be scolded or reprimanded..."
Unable to endure her incessant complaints, I put on my high heels, grabbed my purse, and stormed out. I left a sharp remark behind: "Fine, I'll get an abortion right away, and then we'll divorce. You can tell your son to find someone else."
Her voice immediately rose, and her expression turned frantic: "You wouldn't dare! This is the Xavier's bloodline!"
"You'll see if I dare!" I have never tolerated such injustice. I hailed a taxi downstairs and immediately headed for the hospital.
