That dazzling encounter in the midsummer's heat was concluded with a winter funeral, leaving a raw wound in my heart.
In our final Christmas' Eve together, we made wishes by the river.
I asked him, "What did you wish for?"
"First, to see you in a wedding dress someday, that's my wish for this year. Second, Ethan promises to love Sophia for a lifetime…"
"I'll definitely wear a wedding dress for you someday, don't worry. But, I've never seen you in a suit. I really want to."
"You're graduating next year, right? I'll wear a suit to see you, accompany you for graduation photos. I will attend your graduation ceremony too, Is that okay?"
"Okay."
But ultimately, neither came to pass. I wish it was all just a dream.
Ethan, since you left, I haven't celebrated my birthday. I hate that day.
The cake you ordered came with a small envelope, containing a card.
I couldn't bring myself to open it. Self-deceiving, I thought if I didn't read it, you could still wish me a happy birthday, as if you never left.
Time passed, and I opened the envelope.
Pulled out the yellowed card. It read:"Boss, happy 22nd birthday. Let me tell you something, I'm planning to settle down in C City, I've looked at shops too. You can feel free to find a job here.We will never part way from now on. I Love you. Ethan."
I whispered to the sky, "I love you too." Suddenly, the wind chimes tinkled, as if responding.
