Today was a beautiful day, and I found myself curled up on the sofa.
Before I knew it, I had drifted off to sleep.
The curtains danced with the breeze, while the clock on the wall ticked methodically.
Time seemed to rewind, taking me back to that summer.
It was as if I had stumbled upon a treasure trove, never needing to wander again; every day, I'd rush to Ethan's Inked Impressions.
Clutching my homework and exercise books, I'd sprawl across the small table in his shop, absorbed in my studies.
I was an oddity amidst the artistic ambiance, yet I cared not.
The visitors were a mixed bag. All kinds of people came here.
One time, a man jestingly remarked, "Hey, is this girl Ethan's kept woman? She was here nearly every day?"
Instantly, Ethan kicked the man's stool away.
"Didn't you see she's in her school uniform?"
"Just teasing," the man chuckled.
"I'll kick you out if you spout any more nonsense," Ethan warned sternly.
I swiftly chimed in, "Ethan, I'll help you kick him out!"
He laughed, saying, "Such a good kid."
Back then, happiness enveloped me like a warm embrace.
Afterward, when Ethan learned about my fight with Emma and the slap from my father, he hugged me for the first time, offering solace.
Not long after that incident, Emma and her bossy high school boyfriend received a harsh lesson from some folks outside school; their arrogance vanished within the school walls.
She no longer disrupted my studies with her ostentatious displays, nor did we engage in verbal duels at home.
I didn't know the specifics of what transpired, but it didn't take much imagination to realize—Ethan had surely stepped in for me.
