Landon's sleep was uneasy, plagued by intermittent stirrings that kept him hovering between dreams and wakefulness through half the night.
He attributed this unease to unfamiliarity—after all, he rarely traveled by sea, opting for planes or cars. Yet, as he decided to get up and wandered the deck for fresh air.
A shadow caught his attention around a corner. A patrolling sailor? No, why would a sailor hide from him?
He feigned ignorance, casually strolling on, his instincts confirming the figure as male.
Risk-averse, Landon decided to retreat and report it later. His pace quickened, anxiety mounting, until he encountered a sailor, prompting him to head straight for the captain.
Before reaching the captain's quarters, a figure emerged, halting Landon in his tracks. This was the shadow from before!
The man didn't speak and Landon neither.
The figure advanced, Landon wary, aware that without backup, a physical confrontation was risky. He should defeat him through wit and strategy
He retreated cautiously, senses heightened, anticipating a sudden attack from him. Instead, the figure paused, flicking a lighter with a chilling "click."
Landon smelled something strange. Oh, it is gasoline. The madman doused the ship with it! He intends to set this ship on fire!
Realizing the dire situation, Landon lunged for the lighter. Lives were at stake—charitable icons, aid supplies for Africa, and Amber were all on board. He couldn't let the fire ignite!
As he charged, he sensed a sneer from the figure before they grappled. The lighter was extinguished, but the struggle persisted, evenly matched.
The night's tranquility meant the commotion would soon attract attention from patroling sailor. Landon aimed to stall, buying time for reinforcements.
"Ethan?" Recognition flashed in Landon's mind during their fight.
Ethan didn't deny it. "Yes, and you're all doomed tonight, Landon. I will kill everyone on this ship!"
Landon understood Ethan's hatred but there were still innocent passengerson this ship.
He tried to appeal to him with these arguments: "There are many renowned philanthropists aboard this ship, who have done countless good deeds. How could you not spare them! And this ship is loaded with supplies, all intended for the children in Africa..."
Before he could finish, Ethan cut him off, saying, "Enough! Why should I care about all that? It's your fault for involving innocents. They die because they are on the very same ship with you? I have been committing evil deeds for years; a few more lives on my conscience won't make much difference!"
Landon know that reason doesn't work this time, leaving Landon no choice but to fight. Soon, sailors arrived in response to the commotion.
