Chapter 39

　　"Let's invite the bride and groom to make their entrance!" the announcer declared, his enunciation impeccable. Amber, arm in arm with Sawyer, emerged with her face adorned with meticulous makeup.
　　Amber's father had long since severed ties with Amber, and though she had returned, it might be awkward if he face her again. Consequently, neither set of parents attended the wedding. 
　　Speculations among journalists and bystanders run wild. Some assumed that this marriage was not approved by both sets of parents. Others said that they were deterred by Amber's tarnished reputaion and the scandal from three years ago.
　　Landon, concealed in the shadows, witnessed the wedding. 
　　From afar, he saw Amber's joyful smile, her cheeks dimpled with faint laughter. Her wedding dress, radiant white like a beacon, was stunning.
　　he wondered if Sawyer had chosen it for her. As she walked slowly alongside Sawyer, their intimacy were palpable.
　　Landon's gaze darkened, and his assistant, noticing his distress, felt pained. "Sir, shall we proceed with the plan?"
　　Today, Landon intended to take Amber away from the wedding.
　　Regardless, he was determined to take this final gamble, even if the odds were a meager one. Being humiliated in front of the entire city was nothing compared to letting her go without a fight. 
　　Yet, once he was here, he hesitated, daunted either by Amber's evident happiness or the perfect match they seem.
　　Ultimately, he recoiled. His courage to strive for happiness evaporated. Perhaps Amber's happiness truly lied in marrying Sawyer, and today was a significant for her; how could he disrupt it?
　　Landon released a heavy sigh. "Forget it. Let's go."
　　He couldn't bear to witness Amber marrying other man. Her happiness was paramount. From that day forth, they will have nothing to do with each other.
　　Landon held back his tears, steeling himself to let go. His silent assistant followed as Landon decided it was time to depart.
　　Meanwhile, everyone had overlooked Ethan, the conniving figure who had been absent for some time.
　　Just as Landon took a few steps, Ethan revealed his sinister intentions. He had found someone to publicly slander Amber during the ceremony.
　　Amber and Sawyer, unfamiliar with many local people, had invited a broad spectrum of the city's elite to bolster attendance. There were many came,among which they could only recognized a few.
　　When someone came out to insult Amber,nobody knew who he was:
　　"Why, Miss Nolan, on your wedding day, we have all the city's dignitaries gathered, yet where is Mr. Rhodes? Isn't he a prominent figure here?"
　　Mentions of Landon inevitably invoked memories of Amber's scandal three years ago. While everyone was aware of the events, none dared to mention it in front of Amber, given her current influence. 
　　Openly defaming her in public was unheard of.
　　Sawyer's expression soured as he stepped forward to shield Amber. "AmSawyer Creations has had no business with Rhodes Group since our establishment here. Therefore, it’s normal not to invite him today. This has nothing to do with my bride. Please show her respect!"
　　Sawyer's protection offered a sense of security, but Amber seized this opportunity to quietly slip away.
