In the nick of time, Amber's plummeting body jolted.
A hand suddenly shot out, grabbing her at the last second.
Strong and secure, the palm was hot, slightly sweaty, but held her tight.
She knew who it was.
Before, Amber declared revenge loudly, wanting Landon to regret. Now, she suddenly didn't.
What was the point of revenge? His regret couldn't bring Sunny back.
If not for the brush with death just now,Amber might never have realized her heart's truest affection, unchanged, was always Landon.
Now, she began to find various reasons to excused him.
Penelope was the villain and Landon was merely misguided. Landon was merely under a spell of infatuation and didn't mean to doubt me.
Penelope deceived him; no one would willingly kill their child.
Landon was oblivious...
She deceived herself until Landon's shocked cry echoed above.
Amber reacted, clinging to the windowsill. Three years of training helped her heave halfway up, seeing what happened in the room.
Landon had saved her, though she wondered how he arrived.
Beside him, Penelope, wielding a fruit knife like a maniac, had its blade embedded in Landon.
Amber was horrified.
More baffling was Sawyer, standing by the door, possibly just entering, with a strange, eerily calm expression. He looks like an outsider watching a play, showing no intent to help.
But the Sawyer Amber met wasn't like this. He wasn't one to ignore a plea for life!
Even if he despised Landon, she was still in danger and would fall from the window in anytime. Why did he pretend not to see...
Amber's heart chilled.
Sawyer noticed Amber later, changing his face to feign confusion, rushing to help.
Amber, however, had swiftly pieced things together, hiding her thoughts.
She focused on Landon, his blood-soaked shirt magnifying in her sight.
With Sawyer's intervention, Penelope faltered. Security rushed in, subduing her. Unusually united, Sawyer and Landon pulled Amber in.
Police sirens wailed downstairs as the police also arrived on the scene..
Sunny's relics were lost. It's a pity, but thankfully Amber survived.
Her life's purpose had been revenge on Landon and Penelope. With Penelope facing justice and Landon...
She didn't know how to face him.
Amid danger, her doubt toward Sawyer couldn't surface. Amber pretended to be unfit. She closed her eyes as she thought all those things through. If she acted well, Sawyer wouldn't notice her doubt. Not yet, it is not the time that she could expose him.
She slowly opened her eyes to Sawyer's anxious gaze, returning a tender look. "I'm fine. Thank you, Sawyer."
Sawyer's eyes reddened, hugging her in tears.
Once, Amber might have been moved by him.
However, after witnessing his indifference today, she stole glances at the sweating and wounded Landon, and could only feel a pang.
