Sawyer was curious about their conversation but never asked.
He could guess quite a bit—no matter how humbly Landon explained or sought forgiveness, it would be in vain.
Amber wouldn't forgive him.
More importantly to him was the charity event, which must hold great significance for Amber, aimed at aiding children.
Thus, he never inquired about the incident inside, only stating, 'Supplies are in the warehouse, I'll check them. Funds will be transferred soon. Amber, return to the office first.'
Amber smiled and nodded, 'Okay.'
Back in the office, what lingered wasn't Sawyer's thoughtfulness, but Landon's reddened eyes.
'What's happening to me...' Seated, she massaged her temples, closing her eyes to calm down.
Whenever Amber grew quiet, thoughts of Sunny overwhelmed her.
She habitually opened her drawer, seeking any fragment of Sunny's memories.
Yet, unexpectedly, the securely locked cabinet was empty!
Amber was startled, rubbing her eyes and reaching again, confirming the absence.
Cold sweat formed instantly. These were Sunny's last remnants on earth.
Although she had digital copies, who could silently infiltrate and steal securely locked items?
It was terrifying, especially considering some irreplaceable items like Sunny's handprint at age one, her first crude drawing.
These were treasures Amber could never part with!
On the verge of tears, she reached for her phone to call Sawyer when someone emerged from behind the curtains.
Amber jumped internally but externally remained composed.
Panic intensified, beads of sweat forming on her forehead—how could she not notice another person in her office?
'Penelope?' She ventured the woman's name.
It was indeed Penelope, not fully recovered from her injuries yet eager to leave the hospital to retaliate against Amber.
Knowing she couldn't confront Amber head-on, she pretended to be Amber's distant cousin, coming for support upon hearing of Amber's return.
Denied by the receptionist, she persisted with crying and causing a scene until, reluctantly, they let her wait upstairs.
Using similar tactics, Penelope infiltrated Amber's office.
Taught lock-picking tricks by Ethan during his shady dealings, Penelope quickly unlocked the cabinet and took Amber's most cherished possessions.
'Oh, my dear sister, you still recognise me!'
The familiar taunting tone was something Amber had grown used to.
Penelope, still in her hospital gown under a random coat, hair disheveled as if not tended to for days, likely just escaped the hospital, not fully recovered.
'You took it, didn't you? Give it back,' Amber commanded, unyielding.
'Dream on! Do you think I went through all this trouble to steal for nothing!'
