Sawyer couldn't resist a touch of narcissism, smirking arrogantly, "That's all thanks to my compassion for the workers. A few workers directly approached me about the abnormalities, and a quick investigation uncovered everything."
"This plot seems to have been hatched on short notice. The preparations and aftermath handling weren't thorough, which is why it was found out so quickly."
What puzzled Sawyer the most was the purpose of rushing into action without proper preparation, unlike their usual modus operandi.
The next day, Amber woke up feeling weak but tried her best to appear energetic and vibrant for Sunny's sake. She didn't want him to think she had lived poorly since his passing.
She applied meticulous makeup, as if she were attending a gala.
The driver headed towards the cemetery.
In the distance, tombstones were visible, but Amber didn't know which one belonged to Sunny.
She asked the driver to wait outside while she went in alone.
Sunny's grave stood solitary in an inconspicuous corner.
Amber trembled as she approached, sitting beside him as if Sunny were alive, sitting right next to her.
This was her first visit to Sunny in three years.
"Sunny, Mommy came to see you."
"Sunny, it was Mommy's fault three years ago. I didn't take good care of you."
"Don't worry, Mommy's back now. I won't let Landon and Penelope off, and I will avenge you!"
Her pale hand caressed the tombstone, tracing the large characters.
Such a young child, yet he died so tragically.
"Sunny, can you hear me..."
Amber broke into tears, questioning why fate was so cruel to an innocent child.
Sunny was the most blameless of all!
Amber's phone rang, displaying an unknown number.
As soon as she answered, a voice said, "Sunny is still alive."
Amber jolted up, her vision blurring as she nearly fainted.
"W-What did you say?"
The caller replied irrelevantly, "If you want to see him, avoid the bodyguards, come alone..."
They provided an address, a remote location known mostly to locals only.
Amber was aware of the many doubts, but the phrase "Sunny is still alive" severed all reason. She would risk everything to check it out.
What if?
What if it was true?
If Sunny was indeed alive, she would give up everything, even her revenge, to save him!
At Sawyer's press conference, journalists gathered.
Sawyer flipped through his script, scanning the PowerPoint slides, evidence, double-checking for any flaws.
Just as he cursed "Damn Ethan," the phone rang as if on cue.
"I have Amber. If you don't want her dead, come alone to the abandoned chemical factory in the city within an hour."
The caller was blunt, "No need for money. Choose between the press conference and Amber."
This was unacceptable. Sawyer tossed the documents to his subordinate to handle, asking him to host the event, and rushed out without hesitation.
He didn't care about a small business like AmSawyer Creations; he would trade all his overseas influence for Amber's lifelong safety and happiness!
En route, he suddenly had an idea and dialed another number on his phone.
Only then did he inform Landon.
The stage was set.
