"Take the child away."
"Amber , this is what you owe Penelope and me."
Owe him? She wept on the floor, her cries futile against them taking her child away.
She couldn't just sit idly by!
After much inquiry, Amber finally located the hospital where Penelope was staying.
Penelope, flipping through a magazine, wasn't surprised to see Amber, as if she had anticipated her arrival.
Looking at Penelope before her, Amber's eyes reddened, and she fell to her knees.
"Please, Could you plead to Landon to spare my child? He's too young, he can't survive the transplant."
Penelope's smile faded upon hearing this, replaced with sarcasm.
"Your child? When you climbed into Landon's bed, slept with your own brother-in-law, and now you beg me for mercy?"
"You ruined my wedding, slept with my man, made me the laughingstock of everyone, and now you beg me? Are you not satisfied until I'm driven to my death by your antics?"
"I... I didn't. Sunny's body can't withstand the surgery. He won't make it."
Penelope looked at Amber, feigning ignorance despite knowing full well about using her child's bone marrow, and pretended innocence instead.
"I have no idea what you're talking about. You're coming to me, pressuring me—do you want me to die in front of you? You are still my sister, after all."
Amber was about to speak when a roar echoed from the door.
Landon, somehow alerted, strode in, grabbed Amber's arm, and violently threw her to the ground.
He shielded Penelope protectively, worry etched on his face.
"Amber? You again! Who allowed you to harass Penelope? Do you want to provoke her illness again?"
Amber hit the cabinet, scraping her arm, leaving a bloody gash.
She bit her lip, refusing to cry out.
Penelope covered her mouth, her voice trembling with sobs.
"Landon, she said you want to use her child to save me? Is that true? Let me die; I'm nothing but a burden alive."
She clutched her chest, coughing violently, tears streaming down her pale face, looking utterly pitiful.
Landon's brows furrowed, anger contorting his features. He struggled to suppress it.
"Rest well. I'll handle everything else."
He comforted Penelope gently before casting a cold glance at Amber.
He lifted Amber from the floor, ignoring her bleeding wound, and tossed her into the hospital corridor.
People were coming and going outside.
Amber lay disheveled as Landon knelt, gripping her chin tightly.
"I told you not to show up in front of us, yet you came to Penelope?"
"Do you want to drive her to death? Amber, can't you stop being so malicious?"
Amber gazed at the man she once loved, everything seemed different now.
"I never plotted against you. Believe me, I was set up too, unaware of anything. Besides, Sunny is your child; Blood is thicker than water."
Landon looked at her coldly, a cruel smirk slowly forming on his lips.
"Set up to get into my bed? Then set up to use the child to extort money from me? Disappeared when I refused?"
Demanding money with the child? Amber was baffled; she had never done such a thing.
But Landon refused to listen to her explanation.
"If you want me to spare that child, fine."
"As long as you kneel down and crawl from here in the hallway to Penelope's room, shouting that you're a whore who shouldn't have seduced her own brother-in-law."
This short corridor was lined with onlookers at every turn.
Once a prestigious lady of a prominent family, now reduced to this state, Landon aimed to strip her of every last shred of dignity.
Yet, Amber had no alternative. Long discarded by her family three years prior, she had lost all sense of self-respect.
She clenched her lips tightly, determination etched on her face. "If I crawl to her door, confess my faults, will you spare Sunny?"
Landon offered no response, his face a stony mask of indifference.
"Alright, I'll do it. I was wrong."
Her knees hit the floor with a thud, marking the start of her humiliating journey.
With each painstaking crawl forward, she repeated:
"I am a whore."
"I should not have seduced my own brother-in-law."
