In my previous life, it was my mother who gave away the shares. Touched by Emma, she granted her ten percent of the shares. My mother, who held thirty percent at that time, was left with twenty percent after the transfer. The remaining shares were distributed among various external shareholders: twenty percent each in Ethan's and my father's possession, and the last thirty percent divided among others.
My father leveraged his twenty percent and Emma's ten percent, secretly acquiring additional shares from other shareholders. He also manipulated a situation where Ethan relinquished ten percent, making him the largest shareholder of Harper Corporation.
This time, my mother wasn't present. I noticed my father's gaze shift towards Ethan. He said, "Ethan, I've never asked you for anything. You know I hold shares to ease your mother's workload. While you're recovering, lend Emma ten percent. I'll find a way to compensate you later."
My father spoke as if it were a foregone conclusion, believing Ethan wouldn't refuse.
How could he? Ethan had just publicly defended Emma against me. Offering her shares was the ultimate lesson for me. He assumed Ethan couldn't decline.
However, he failed to notice my mother and Leo descending the stairs. Likely informed by a servant, they rushed down, fearing I'd be at a disadvantage facing them alone.
In that moment, my thoughts echoed through the entire family: "If Ethan gives Emma shares, it will bring Father closer to seizing our inheritance."
"Ethan's leg isn't untreatable; Father never sincerely tried to heal his leg, arranging the foreign doctor deliberately."
"It's contradicted. If they knew Father did this all to marry his childhood sweetheart, would our family dissolve?]
The look on everyone's faces towards my father shifted dramatically. Ethan was fuming.
At the moment,Emma was still feigning reluctance, acting coy in front of Ethan, "Dad, I don't want it. How can I take Ethan's shares? Ethan, don't listen to dad, I won't be so unreasonable..."
As she reached out to touch Ethan, a loud thud echoed. Emma was clumsily shoved to the ground by Ethan, stunning all onlookers, including Emma herself, who momentarily forgot her pain.
My father was the first to react, incredulous. "Ethan, what are you doing? How could you treat Emma like this? Are you mad?"
Ethan scoffed, his eyes piercing as if wishing to slay my father. In my past life, as a spirit watching my father, I too wanted to tear him apart, but I couldn't touch him.
I calmed myself, thinking, "Ethan lacks evidence to accuse dad. No one will believe him, and they'll think we bullied Emma."
"It's not worth falling for dad and Emma's trap."
"Our home has cameras. Replaying the footage will reveal if Emma framed me."
