That night, I slept soundly, my dreams filled with a vast grassland under bright sunlight where I watched the little rabbit nibble on the greens.
Before long, it darted off, and I chased after it.
Just as I was about to catch it, another hand nabbed the rabbit.
Lifting my head, I met Nathaniel's gaze.
"A little rabbit chasing another—how amusing." He placed the bunny in my palm and extended his hand to pull me up.
Together, the two of us and the rabbit strolled under the sunlit sky until dawn.
Awakening, I found the rabbit nestled on my bed, its crimson eyes staring at me. I happily rubbed its head and, cradling the rabbit, ventured out to find Nathaniel clad in an apron, cooking in the kitchen.
It had been a while since I met him. His culinary skills seemed even more refined.
"Uncle," I called from behind him.
He turned, frowned suddenly, "Why areyou walking around barefoot? This is a bad habit"
Then, he set down everything, scooped me up by the waist, carried me all the way to the couch, and seated me, fetching slippers to put on my feet.
"Go freshen up, breakfast will be ready soon."
"Can I have a kiss?" I looped my arms around his neck.
"Eat first," he replied coldly.
"Can I after breakfast?" I persisted.
"Yes, yes, yes, you win," he grumbled, heading back to the kitchen, discovering his eggs burnt and needing to start anew.
After breakfast, we lounged on the couch for a while. But soon enough, he pushed me away.
"Don't you like me? Why am I always the one making the moves?" I pouted.
"It's not that I don't like you," he sighed, exasperated.
"The man in front of you, thirty-one, hasn't been with a woman in two or three years. I'm a tinderbox, do you understand?"
"Oh, I don't," I lied.
"Keep pretending, can't you stop teasing me so easily?" His gaze lowered a fraction.
Following his look, I gasped and promptly fled the scene. By noon, we headed to the garage together.
"Boss, something's off with you today," a comment arose.
"What's off?" Nathaniel snorted.
"Got a pimple on your nose. Have you been staying up late frequently recently?"
"Boss, you have too much presure. We should introduce you to a girl to relax you," another suggested.
"It's mosquito bite. Don't talk nonsense!" Nathaniel's face darkened.
I giggled beside him, unable to hold back.
Consequently, he dragged me into a backroom for another lecture.
"Uncle, they're watching us," I reminded him.
"So what? You're the one who should be worried," he cupped my chin, "Don't just laugh, tell me, when will you help uncle relax?"
"Um, my birthday is in two days," I stammered.
"Turning nineteen in two days, huh?" His smile widened, "I suppose I can wait patiently."
"Can we go out now?"
"No, time for some interest first." He leaned in and kissed me.
When he is kissing me, "Boss, someone's here!" Uncle Fat burst in.
I froze, attempting to push him away, but it was too late.
Nathaniel's first reaction was to press my head against his chest, hiding my face, using his body as a makeshift shield.
Buried in his chest, I nearly stopped breathing, nervously clutching his shirt. "Boss, Felicity, you two…" Uncle Fat stuttered in shock.
"Scram!" Nathaniel growled.
"Oh…ok." Uncle Fat hastily retreated, considerately closing the door behind him.
I was utterly stunned, unable to recover for a while. "It's all your fault, I said we can not do that here."
"Anyway, within a minute, everyone will know," he chuckled down at me, "Let's continue."
Continue?
And so, it was half an hour later that he finally led me out.
