I played the hypocritical saint, as well as the cowardly victim.
After realizing I had deeply offended them, I paused my mischief, relishing my time as the innocent flower at school.
Whenever Jordan looked at me disapprovingly, I would start trembling with fear. The girls beside me would quickly shield me, whispering, “Can you believe it? He’s so handsome, yet how can he behave like this? Bullying girls!”
I would shake my head sadly. “Maybe I really did something wrong, although I don’t know what…”
They would respond indignantly, “Mia, you’re just too kind!”
Touched, I would hold their hands. “Thank you for standing by me. I am so fortunate to have you.”
Girls are wonderful; they love me, and I love them too, unlike those three annoying men; just thinking about them irks me.
Though I appeared outwardly docile, inside, I was quite smug.
Ah, I wasn't happy in my childhood, but now I realize, maybe I was just born to be the villainess.
Days passed in this state of smug contemplation.
It wasn't until Jordan’s eighteenth birthday that the moment of the female lead’s arrival became clear. The waitress who accidentally bumped into him and spilled wine all over him appeared; that was the cue for the female lead’s entry!
Of course, I didn't attend his birthday party; I saw it through videos sent by other classmates. My desk mate sighed, “Though he’s not the nicest person, he’s incredibly handsome. That cool and aloof demeanor is something I've never seen before.”
I responded simply, “Oh.”
The other classmate exclaimed, “Ah! That clumsy girl matches him so much. Jordan didn’t even get mad at her.”
I thought, ‘Of course, he wouldn’t get mad. She’s the female lead, they will make a perfect match.’
Make way for the female lead!
I started considering studying abroad; I needed to escape this place of trouble.
Within a few days, before I could finalize my plans, I came home from school to hear the news of Jordan’s engagement to Aria Brooks.
I was baffled. “They’re moving so fast?”
Such is the charm of the female lead?
My mom said reassuringly, “A few days ago, that girl came with Jordan to visit his parents. I saw her, and she's really pretty, a good match for Jordan.”
I was completely confused.
That shouldn’t be right. The female lead hadn't even charmed Logan or Connor yet. How could she be engaged? My mom patted the back of my hand, “They have an engagement party in a few days. You should come with us.”
I was stunned for a moment, then smiled in docile, “Okay, sure.”
I was curious to see what this was all about.
