Chapter 2

　　"Your phone kept ringing, listed as 'husband.' We've informed your family; he's on the way here."
　　"That's unimportant. How is the baby?"
　　Evelyn had attempted suicide while pregnant.
　　"The baby's heartbeat stopped briefly, but fortunately, its will to live is as strong as yours.The danger has passed for now. We'll have a detailed report shortly."
　　"Thank you."
　　Moments later, a man in a suit entered.
　　He furrowed his handsome brows at the sight of my bandaged wrists: "This again? Evelyn, with your constant suicide threats, why won't you just die?"
　　"You haven't died yet, so I'm not hurry." I regarded him calmly, "I'll be at your funeral, Julian."
　　In the original story, after Evelyn and her unborn child died, Julian seemed to fall in love with her suddenly.
　　Regretting what he had done.
　　A flood of belated emotions overwhelmed him.
　　A year later, Julian succumbed to stomach cancer.
　　A year isn't long; I can wait.
　　Julian had never heard such biting words from Evelyn; he paused, stunned: "I was merely catching up with an old classmate, is that really so bad?"

　　The doctor rebuked him, then whispered to me, "Here's the report. The child is fine; both mother and child are safe."
　　"You're pregnant?" Julian was taken aback, then turned away coldly, "I've said I didn't want children. We took every precaution; what did you do to the condoms?"
　　"The best contraceptive is abstinence, don't you know? Or are you implying I raped you? If so, you should report it to the police, accuse me of marital rape."
