ETHAN CARTER
'Oh God Elise", I said horrified as I saw her hug Aliya clutching onto her the way she did with her teddy bear Cubby.
I left Crystal rushing last the shrieking happy children and oast the waiters going to where Elise was. I looked at Aliya then at the man by her side then at Elise who kept calling Aliya mommy over and over.
I bent over picking her up,
'Elise let go", I ordered but she wasn't prepared to let go of Aliya's leg.
'Daddy, she came. Mommy came",Elise continued and a stunned Aliya looked at me questioningly.
When I told her that Aliya was her mother, I hadn't anticipated that she would act like this. The man wearing a casual black jacket and faded blue jeans stared at Aliya as if wanting to ask who Elise and I were.
Hadn't she told her boyfriend that I was Jaxon's father, that I was the one supposed to be holding Jaxon's and her hand not him. I hated how he looked, like another version of Matthew D'addario, all badboy like and charming.
Is this the man she was leaving for? I was so jealous seeing him by her side. I tried to pull Elise away from Aliya but she wouldn't barge and when my anger spiralled I lashed out.
'She is not your mother, Elise!" And that did it because the second I said that Elise let go looking at Aliya with tearful eyes then at me before she ran into the crowd full of children. I saw Crystal afar off mouthing that she would talk to her.
Looking back at Jaxon, he seemed scared as he held onto ‘whats his name'. Aliya too seemed angry and annoyed as she nodded her head at me disapprovingly.
I had never lashed out at Elise and I felt bad after realizing what I had just done. I should have never told her that Aliya was her mother because God knows I initiated some sort of fantasy in her head of us being a family.
'I'll just help Jaxon place his gifts by the gifts bar",the guy said taking Jaxon away from Aliya and I.
'We need to talk. Privately",Aliya said between gritted teeth and I followed her behind as we passed by the crowds of people going upstairs.
It surprised me that she still remembered her way around here. She opened the door to my bedroom boldly stepping into the room as if it were the kitchen.
This very room held a lot of memories for us but I don't suppose she could remember seeing as to how she was already with another man.
'She is just a kid, Ethan",she started placing her Chanel bag on my bed.
'I know", I groaned already feeling guilty.
'You could have been gentle with her",she said and I nodded in agreement.
'You know I'm always gentle", I said smugly watching her bob her eyes at me in frustration.
I was gentle with her on our special night, wasn't I?
'Really? I should have known talking to you was a waste of time, you never take things seriously. Ever",she said turning around to pick her bag but with two long strides I was infront of her grabbing her wrist.
'I took you seriously", I muttered being merely inches from her so much that if I leaned closer our noses would be touching, a little more closer and I would kiss her.
'This isn't about us",she hissed and I could feel her voice tremble. That dress she has worn, a green simple pencil dress accentuated her hips perfectly. I was starting to like the color green.
'It could be", I muttered lowly.
'She's just a little girl and you treated her poorly, Ethan",she bellowed and I toon a step back seeing where she was going with the issue.
'You think I'm a bad father. You think that I'm not fit to raise a child, is that it?" I said trying to remain calm.
'I never said that",she said defensively.
'Well you did think about it and assume it. I can better a hundred dollars that right now you are thinking of how bad of an influence I'll be on Jaxon. I know right now you are thinking about how perfect of a father your boyfriend is and not me"
'What boyfriend?" She asked acidly.
'Please, don't act innocent or let me guess the guy that you came with is your bestfriend? They are always bestfriends right?" I asked trying not to sound jealous but I was failing at it.
'As a matter of fact, he is. Drew is my friend and not whatever disgusting thing that's going on in your head"
At the mention of him being a friend, made me calm down. I wasn't claiming her as mine or trying to act possessive bit the thought that the man out there was a perfect man for her and my son bothered me.
'I didn't know", I said lowly.
'Of course you didn't because you like jumping into conclusions and letting your anger override your ability to think. Frankly, I don't understand why you would tell your daughter that I'm her mother", she shouted.
'You think I had a choice? When you showed up with Jaxon, do you think it was easy for Elise? God, she asked me why Jaxon had a mother and she didn't. What was I supposed to tell her? That someone left her outside my gates?
I couldn't be that insensitive, Aliya. And when she asked me if you were her mother, I had no choice but to say yes because that's how much desperate my little girl wants to have a mother.
I apologize if her calling you her mother hurt you in any way and I apologize for my mistakes", I muttered avoiding looking at her eyes which at the moment were filled with nothing but sympathy.
'Ethan I-'
And when she went to speak the door behind me opened and I turned around to see a tearful Karen Torres standing by the door,
'You are her real mother. You both are her parents"
