When I woke up later in the day, I found out I had slept for five good hours. My stomach grumbled as I raised into a sitting position. Just then I realized where I was, I was in a very big room and on an elegant bed. The bed was so soft and, to be honest I had never seen golden furniture that shines like the ones in the room.
They were also smooth. Was it the guest room or... Frank's room? I asked myself as I gently withdrew from the bed. Then I began looking around the room, admiring all the decorations inside. What a wonderful interior, looks like a luxurious hotel room to me. More like the ones I used to watch on movies.
To my left was a standing mirror, it was elegant and its furniture were shining too. Golden in color. I walked over to it and checked the drawers, there was nothing inside. It was as if the room had not been occupied for quite some time. I think it's the guest room. I thought again to myself as I went to the window about drawing the curtains to one side, but it was kind of stuck.
And after trying for some time to draw thr curtains but to no avail, I decided to just let it be. But suddenly, my eyes landed on a small remote on a hanger close to the window. And as soon as I touched it; it blinked a red light twice before settling on green. It was obvious the remote belonged to the window. Surprisingly as I touched one of its buttons, the window opened.
I turned my face away as rays of the afternoon sun welcomed my body. It was actually sunny, hence I adjusted the curtains leaving only a small gap, enough for me to look outside without being burnt by the unfavorable rays. I checked out and realized the room wasn't on the first floor, or ground floor as some used to call the floor on the ground level.
By the looks of it, it was obvious we were on the second floor, but weren't the guest section supposed to be in the ground floor or do they have another guest section in the second floor? I thought and heaved a huge sigh. Enough of all the thoughts! I said. Just then my stomach grumbled again, and this time around I felt pain in my abdomen.
The pain was accompanied by the urge to excrete, and before I knew it I was already looking for the toilet. Luckily for me, I found a door in one corner of the room and hurriedly walked over to it. As soon as I opened the door, I found the bathroom and the toilet close to each other. The bathroom was big while the toilet wasn't that big, let's say it was half the size of the bathroom.
Anyways, size doesn't matter... or does it? As long as it will get the job done, size isn't a problem. I pushed the glass door opened and walked into the toilet. Thus, I quickly sat on the bowl and the rest is history. When I was some minutes later, I took care of myself and left toilet. Just then, I found the curtains I left slightly open closed. Who closed them? I wondered.
Perhaps someone walked into the room while I was in the toilet. I concluded as I headed to the main door of the room, pulled its knob down and dragged the door open. I then stepped out of the room and shut the door behind me. Just then I realized I was at Frank's apartment, and the room I found myself was one of the three rooms in the second floor. Meaning, it was probably his guest room.
I yawned and began exploring his room. He talked about theatre before he left, I would be there soon the fact that I loved movies but right now I should be going through some of art collections. Those things weren't there before, they were obviously new... and most of them portrayed deep emotion. The first portray was that of an African woman with tears rolling down her cheeks as she held her baby who seemed to be lifeless. The signature and name of the Artist was at the edge of the portray, and there was a small note after it which reads, every child deserves medical care – rich or poor.
It was obvious the portray was all about lack of medical care for average citizens. I huffed as I moved to the second one. This one was of a blind man on the street begging for alms. He was so old that his skin looked as if it was perishing while he was still alive. The art touched me, I didn't even know when I moved to the second one. But as I continued checking the portrays, I realized they all spoke the same language. They all told about pain.
However, the ones that touched my heart and soul more were the ones showcasing women, children, and old-timers. Those ones had strong impact on me, and even after leaving the place where they were placed, I could still see them vividly in my mind. Like I had been watching them for many years without taking my eyes off them. Where did Frank got them by the way? I never knew he was the kind of person that keep such kinds of portrays.
I went to his study table and turned on his desktop computer. Fortunately for me, it wasn't locked. I mean, there was no password or any screen lock that needs access codes. I quickly connected the system with the house's WiFi and began surfing the internet. It was fast, faster than the WiFi we had in our side. This one readers half a gigabyte per second, and that was the fastest internet connection I had ever seen. I took that to my advantage and made some researches about the Artis that made the portrays in Franks sitting room.
Surprisingly, the artist was an American who spent most of his time around the world. He loved being in Africa, Australia, as well as Asia. But he had toured almost every country in the world, taking pictures and depicting real life situations of the less privileged. After learning some things about him, I watched some of his videos too on the internet before one of the servants came from nowhere and asked if I was hungry. I was shocked actually when I first heard her voice because I wasn't expecting her. She should have at least made her presence known before coming closer to me.
"Sorry I freaked you out" she apologized looking sad.
"No, it's okay" I crooked a smile and then huffed, "So, is the table set or you are just about to do that?" I asked out of curiosity.
"It is set," she responded. "however, we took all alcoholic wines out. Hence, you won't have problem with the drinks" Her words reminded me of the fact that I had tasted alcohol today. Yes, I had gulp an alcoholic wine... enough to get me intoxicated.
Even though it wasn't intentional, I wasn't still happy. I was ashamed of myself, I should have been more careful when Frank left. But I opted to devour whatever my mind found interesting on the table, oblivious of the fact that I could get drunk. But if I didn't see Frank taking the beverage, I wouldn't have done that too.
I actually thought the beverage was non-alcoholic since I didn't know Frank was into beer. Anyways, he didn't take much. Which tells how careful he was in consuming alcoholic contents. Perhaps that was why I had never seen him drunk. And I might never see him drunk, unlike his friend... Paul, the Count's mischievous, self-centered son.
"Okay, than you" I said to servant, "But wait, did Frank knows about the whole thing?" I asked out of curiosity, hoping nobody had fed him the news yet, but was that even possible? They must have been scared about the situation and must have alerted him.
"Well, I never wanted to..." she said breaking my heart, I didn't wait for her to continue as I already knew he was told about it. "I told them not to, that it wasn't something serious but they were scared Frank would be pissed if he finds out later. Actually, he told us to take good care of you and that if something bad happens to you, he would deal with us severely regardless of how dear we are to his parents"
Her words made me smile. I knew I was special but not as special as this. But now, I couldn't imagine myself as a queen in the kingdom of his heart. If only we could get married already before something happens in the future and he changes his mind, or his parents forces him to change his mind. I thought to myself as I heaved a worrisome sigh. I was scared of losing him, so scared that the thought alone used to give me heartache.
"Okay, thank you!" I thanked the middle aged woman.
"You are welcome" she beamed at me. "Now, shall we head to the dining room?" she asked.
"Yes, lead the way... please" I said as I stood from the chair I sat on, up to my feet.
"Alright" she said and gently began leading the way. I liked how calm and nice she was.
This was my first time seeing her, the other woman... I mean the one I saw on my first visit was also as kind as her. Were all the servants thought to be kind or they were just forcing themselves because it was part of their job and mandatory? I wondered as we headed down the stairs to the first or ground floor.
Other servants were busy doing their work, and whenever we pass them they would take their bow in respect while wearing a genuine smile on their face. How kind of them, at least I wouldn't have to feel like they were being forced to do what they were doing. If they were to bow for me without smile, I would definitely tell them not to bother bowing for me again.
Although I may consider those with a neutral face, but those with frowned face I would definitely tell them to whole their respect or gesture to them to just forget about the bow. I never wanted anybody to bow for me in the first place, and those that wished to do that ought to show their willingness. That would please me and not make me feel bad or wonder if I was in their shoes. If I was in their shoes though, I would do my work as I should.
Just as we arrived at the dining room, she took me to one of the chairs and pulled one for me to sit. "Thank you" I thanked her and smiled as I sat gently on the chair.
"You are welcome" she said and began serving me in a plate.
"You are really kind, what's even your name?" I asked and paid careful attention to what she would say.
"My name is Camila Pedro" she responded.
"Wow, nice name" I said and watched as she smiled. As soon as she was done, she asked if I needed anything and I told her I needed nothing. I was okay with the hospital she showed to me. Thus, she left the dining room after taking her bow.
Just then I stared at the dishes on my table. One bowl had beans pottage, another had rice balls and catfish pepper soup, then a full grilled chicken and some vegetables like fresh sliced onions, sliced tomatoes, carrots, as well as cucumber. Then there were two bottles of beverages, and a jaw of fresh water. The two beverages were apple juice and orange juice.
