While Jessica and her friends prepared to go out, I decided to stay at home. I couldn't sign to her new idea even though it was brilliant to her and her friends. Her idea was to break into a store, pack some of their items, use those items and return them back later. How good was that? Plus if one person is caught, I am very sure the person would reveal the rest. I will do the same if I were to get caught.
Talking about getting caught, Frank promised to come back later. He was really a good guy. I mean, we just met today and he was trying making promises. By the way, being the son of the founder and CEO of StableGrid probably meant he was from a wealthy family. He looked simple to me though, I mean like an average countryman.
however, his car looked expensive. It was a convertible sport car. I had seen sport cars making too much noise before but his, it wasn't as noisy as the ones I had seen. His was also good-looking, I couldn't imagine the millions spent on such a vehicle. If I had that kind of money, I wouldn't buy such an expensive car. I would rather use a part of it to buy a decent Sedan and then use the rest for charity.
I loved helping people, especially kids and the less privileged. There were a lot of homeless people across the country that can't afford three square meals a day, helping them means helping humanity. Those people were homeless for a reason, they were poor. If only the affluents of the world would join their hands and make things right. Many are out there starving everyday, sleeping in hunger and...
My thought was cut short when Aunt Vicky yawned, walking downstairs, "Laura, is that you?" I looked up at her and nodded my head.
"Yes, it's me!"
"Oh, I thought you went out with them?"
"No, I need a break"
"Okay, but wait a minute," she looked around, "Frank left?"
"Yes, he received an urgent call from his dad"
"Ohh" she muttered.
"Yes, but he told me to apprise you he's coming back later"
"Okay" she walked over to the opposite chair and sat in it, "he's a nice guy, but be careful Laura. I don't want you hanging out with strangers. Men can be, you know, deceptive"
"I know, Aunt. I'm gonna be careful. By the way, it's not as if we are friends yet. I mean, we just met. He might even decide not to come back, who knows?" I uttered.
"Come on, don't say that Laura. You guys already met and it's for a reason, it doesn't matter the duration. And I think he likes you that's why he..."
"What!" I blurted.
"What?" she wrinkled a brow at me.
"Nothing, just that I am surprised to hear that. Who falls in love on their first day of meeting someone?"
"I did!" she pointed at her herself.
"Wow, with Jessica's dad?"
"No, with my first love. We met when I was in my early teens and fell in love. He was in his late teens then" she narrated.
"You guys were teenagers"
"Exactly. And we dated for only a year, he broke my heart and left me shattered. He was the first man to make love with me, and I came here carrying his baby before I had miscarriage" she added.
"Oh, did he knew about the baby?"
"Yes, I told him I was pregnant but he didn't believe me. He thought I was just trying to fool him into mending our relationship. He was one of the reasons why immigrated here" she explained.
"Wow, that's bad. Sorry about that..."
"No, it's not bad. At least I met Jessica's dad," she scoffed, "he saw me broken and fixed me. He was the one that shaped me to who I am today. He didn't only give me Jessica, he gave me a new life. Not all men are bad after all"
"Hmm, sure. But Aunt, are you hearing from him? I mean, your first love?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Neo? Well, the last time I heard about him he was a businessman and married to a model. I don't know about now, and I don't care to know. I am living a comfortable life already" she responded and asked if I like Frank. "Do you like him?" she repeated the question when I didn't reply her in the beginning.
"Aunt, I don't even know what it feels like to fall in love. I've never done that before, and about Frank... we just met today. He's handsome though, that's undeniable and..."
"He's rich!" she cut in, "Extremely rich"
"Hmm, okay... yes, he's rich but I just don't think there is any chemistry between us. I didn't even expect him to be so interested in knowing more about our family" I muttered.
"He's interested in knowing more about us because he likes you. When a man loves a woman, she becomes his priority. He could practically do anything to bring himself closer to her, that's what Frank is doing. He likes you"
"We don't know that yet, we don't know that seriously. And, Aunt, I am not ready for any love now" I huffed, "I don't know why I just love being single"
"Why?" she raised her brows and dropped her jaw.
"Hmm, because... love itself isn't perfect. And no matter how hard you try, how protective of your partner you are, one way or another you will lose them or they may betray you" I explained my naive view about love to her.
"Like seriously?" she burst into laughter, "Do you think all men are the same?"
"No, but..." I said as her phone rang.
"Excuse me please Laura, I need to make this call" she stood to her feet and began heading towards the stairway.
"Okay" I heaved a sigh of relief, hoping she stays there long enough for Frank to come before she comes back and finishes me with her unpleasant love theories.
