Vexon
We were in our jet, on the way to France. Everley was sleeping on my lap, putting her head over my chest.
Meanwhile, Ruby was trying to make Allison fall asleep. However, instead of falling asleep, Allison was looking at me with her bright green eyesa naughty smile was plastered on her face. She was not ready to sleep at all.
Why dont you rest for a bit while I take care of Allison? I offered it to Ruby and she shook her head.
No, it's okay, she said and made Allison sit, playing with her now. Vexon, I was wondering.
What? I asked with full curiosity since I had nothing else to do.
She started speaking, What if one of our kids doesn't want to join the Mafia in future?
I had thought about it already, and it was about time to tell Ruby as well. She should know what has been going in my mind. Well, I let out, All of the kids, including Rio, will be trained for the gang. Even if any of the kids doesnt want to be in the gang, they will still have to take the training just to stay safe if they get attacked.
It's a nice thought, she mumbled, quite satisfied with my decision.
I further spoke, When they will turn eighteen, I will give them an option. They can fully focus on the gang and also be a part of the Bevines Armament Company. But if they dont want to be a part of the gang, they can fully control the Bevines Armament company then.
What if they dont want to do either of them? she pointed out, which made me think for a while.
Chuckling, I said, I trust my kids. I will raise them in such a way that being a part of the Gladiolus or taking care of the company will be their dream. I added, However, if they dont want to be either of them, we can let them pursue whatever they will dream off. But all of them must give us good results to even consider them for a position in any of our works.
Yeah, that's great. I just can't wait for this baby to come, Ruby said, placing her hand on her stomach.
Yeah, neither can I wait for his arrival, I blurted out and instantly, Ruby glared at me. What did I do wrong this time?
She said sternly, His?
Oh, shit.
I I trailed off. I just thought
You thought the baby was a boy? How can you be sure that the baby is not a girl? she started arguing. She placed her hands on her hips. "What if our baby is a girl? Won't she be offended that her dad thought she was a boy? Answer me, Vexon."
"That's, um"
"No, stay quiet. Don't try to give me an excuse," Ruby interrupted me.
But she was the one who demanded an answer. Ugh, this was crazy. I'm sure by the time the baby arrives, I was going to become insane while handling Ruby.
"Vexon, how can you even guess? Couldnt you wait for the baby to come to see the gender? How could you do this? she demanded.
It was just a gue she cut me off again.
Why will you guess? Did I tell you to? We said that we wouldnt guess and just wait for the baby to come into this world.
I didnt argue anymore, which was a wise decision on my part, as she continued to rant, which I listened to her, quietly. It was a good thing that I loved listening to her voice. So, hopefully, I will get through this insane yet beautiful stage of our life.
I was indeed grateful to have her in my life. Even though I brought her to my life forcefully, when I was not in the right sense of mind, Ruby was the one who made my life beautiful. She chose to stay with me. She chose the Gladiolus. She made my world hers, but little did she know, she was my world.
I saw her for the first time six years ago, and since then, I knew she was the only girl I wanted in my life. I never saw any other woman in the way I saw her. She was my first and my only love. I wanted to love her till death do us part. She made my dull life bright and shiny. She brought me the happiness in my life which I thought I would never get. More like, I thought I would never deserve a happily ever after. But with her, I am always happy, regardless of the place or time.
Even though we argue, but then again, no couple was perfect. No marriage was perfect. Two people struggle together, to make everything perfect for each other. This was love. Love made people do crazy stuff, which was true. But love made us grow in nature, develop our character in a good way.
Did you even listen to anything I have said? Rubys voice brought me out of my trance.
I looked at her, only to find her throwing daggers with her eyes in my direction.
Yes, I di she cut me off once again.
Vexon, are you lying to me now? she questioned, her eyes almost teary this time.
At that moment, I did the only thing I thought was right. I mumbled, I love you.
"No, you don't. You are lying to me." She shook her head, determined not to believe me.
I glanced at Everley and Allison once time to check if they were asleep before pecking Ruby's lips. Yet, she continued to glare at me.
I made her connect her forehead with mine and looked into her eyes deeply. With a big smile, I told her, "What do you see in my eyes?"
"Love," she breathed out, a soft smile blooming on her face.
"For whom do you think it is?"
"For me. For our family," she replied. After a pause, she added, "Will you always love us like this?"
"Always, Ruby."
