��What do you mean by you want to take your daughter back? Ruby is not going anywhere,�� I told Syna, who rolled her eyes. I just got her back, and there's no way I was letting her��even if it meant finally speaking up to my scary mother-in-law.
��Look, Vexon. With full trust, I handed my daughter over to you and look, what you did. You almost killed her.��
I closed my eyes, inhaling a deep breath. Then I said, ��Don��t twist the words like that. I did not almost kill her. And if you are talking about this killing thing, then I am sorry but I can put the same blame on you too.��
Syna gasped. ��Me? How?��
I answered, giving her a challenging look, ��She was going to your place because you must have suggested it to her.�� I had no idea how I got the courage to speak to her in that tone with her, but she was not taking my wife and my kids away. If she had said something else, I would have agreed without any hesitation, but she couldn��t take my most precious person from me. Not after everything we have been through together.
��Vexon, you will not be here to take care of her all the time. You have office and then the gang. You cannot watch her all the time,�� she told me. ��And the servants? They just follow orders. If Ruby says no to them, then they will obey her obedient. But if I take her with me, she has to listen to whatever I say and the baby will be safe too. I will watch her all the time.��
��Look, Mom,�� I spoke up, ��No doubt, you can take proper care of her, and I understand what you are trying to say. So I have decided to stay with Ruby all the time during her pregnancy phase. I will take care of her and fulfill all her demands. I will deal with her tantrums.��
She arched an eyebrow at me. ��What about your work?��
��I can handle it from home and I am the CEO. I can just focus on the very important work which I will do from home. And Mane will handle the gang,�� I pointed out. ��Also, I am taking Ruby and the kids to France. In that way, they will be fully under my watch and we can enjoy it too. We need some fresh air after everything we have gone through.��
��Travelling during pregnancy might be harmful,�� Syna said to me.
I informed her, ��I talked with the doctor and also, Mane made all the arrangements so that she doesn��t face any problem. And still, if she does, we have arranged a doctor there for her as well. In short, everything has been taken care of.��
Syna seemed impressed with my responses. ��Well, looks like you don��t need me at all.��
I shook my head in denial and said, ��We need you, to just pray for us all the time, Mom. Besides, Pearl and Kendrik need you the most for now, so you should go to them.��
She hummed in response. ��I will take the next flight tomorrow and go to them. I have talked to Kendrik and told him not to tell about the miscarriage to Pearl yet. After I visit them, he can tell her and I will take care of her.��
��That sounds good,�� I mumbled, feeling bad for my brother even by thinking about the mental stress he was going through. He lost his unborn child. He had so many dreams for the baby. Just the thought of me losing my child gave me goosebumps. ��I will arrange your transport. You will take the Bevines�� jet.�� As she was about to protest, I said sternly, ��No ifs and buts. You have a son who owns a jet. Then why will you go like a commoner? Just brag about your rich son-in-law, like the mother-in-law of the K-dramas do.��
��You watch those?�� Syna asked, chuckling.
I sighed. ��You have no idea what else I have to watch for the sake of your daughter.��
She laughed out loudly when she heard me mumbling.

��You know, I wasn��t scared of your mom today,�� I said to Ruby, while cuddling. Her eyes were glued to the screen of the television, but hearing me, she snapped her head to my direction.
��Really?�� she asked in disbelief.
I hummed in response. ��Really. I mean, I was scared at first when I saw her, but then, we talked and sorted out everything. We even chatted for a while.��
She grinned after listening to the entire story I narrated to her. I didn��t tell her about going to the France part yet. ��I am really very happy that finally, you and Mom have sorted out everything. I was waiting for this day.��
��Yeah, believe me, even I was waiting for this day. Now I don't have to walk on eggshells around her,�� I blurted out, which made her giggle. ��Gem, I have to tell you something.��
��What is it?�� She urged me to continue speaking. ��Tell me. Is it related to the ��something else�� you wanted to tell me last night?��
��Yes, it is.��
��Okay, what is it?�� she asked once again, with a smile.
��How about we go to France?�� I suggested and she fell quiet.
Oh God, please don��t let her pregnancy hormones hit her.
��Well���� she started speaking, ��It sounds great, but when will we go? And will Everley and Allison tag along? If they won��t, then I won��t go. But if they go, I will consider going.��
��Of course, Everley and Allison will go. Why will I not take them with us? I have already planned everything and���� she interrupted me.
��Oh, so you have everything planned.�� Throwing daggers with her eyes, she further spoke, ��Since you have planned everything, then why are you even asking me?��
��I���� I was clueless as to what I should reply to her. It was as if my brain had a short-circuit. ��I thought you would agree.��
Wrong choice of words, Vexon, my subconscious spoke up.
Instantly, Ruby pushed my hands off her. ��Oh, so you already knew that I would agree. You know me that well, right? So tell me what is going on in my mind right now. Do you consider yourself a fortune teller? Or do you think you built a time machine which you used to travel and see the future? That must take up a lot of energy. How can you have this much energy? And if you do, why can't you use it for your family, instead of something useless like fortune-telling?��
She was not making any sense right now, but I couldn��t tell that directly. I didn��t want to die so soon, that too by her hands.

��Oh, so I am Ruby now.�� This time, she got up from the bed, glaring at me. ��Vexon, I have noticed that you are calling me Ruby these past few days. Is it because of this pimple I got?�� She pointed to a small pimple which grew on her forehead. It was so small that I would have never noticed if she didn��t point it out. ��Just let me tell you that I got this pimple because I couldn��t sleep properly when Everley was kidnapped and this is what I got in return for not sleeping properly. A damn pimple. But don��t worry. Once it goes away, I will be back to beautiful Ruby Bevine once again. Then I will be the one pushing you away and make you realize how much you have missed out on.��
At this point, I was confused whether she was talking to me or talking to herself. Also, I had no idea whether I should even open my mouth to speak or not. What if she gets angry if I talk? What if she gets angrier if I don��t talk?
How do I even handle all these mood swings? Maybe I should have taken a few tips from her mom which would come really handy at times like this.
��Hey, did you say that we will go to France?�� Ruby��s voice brought me out of trance, as she sat back on the bed, next to me. When I nodded my head, she gave a bright smile in my direction. ��When will we go?��
��Next week,�� I answered, slightly hesitating.
She squealed in excitement. ��Let me tell Eve. We have so much packing to do! We also need to plan everything we are going to do there.�� She got up once again and rushed out of the room while grinning giddily.
Meanwhile, I was dumbstruck at what just happened. It was going to be my life as long as this baby doesn��t come to this world.
I felt like it was going to be a son, but I didn��t tell Ruby because at this stage, she would argue with me. She was looking for opportunities to bicker with me after all and throw tantrums. My mom wrote in her diary that if the baby was a boy, to name him Vayden.
