��Just do whatever you want,�� I mumbled and put my hands in my pocket, glancing at Liam. ��But don��t forget that I have the proof against you too. You expose me, I expose you. Because I won��t go to my doom alone.��
Liam chortled hearing me. He approached me and said, ��Vexon Bevine. Do I look that much stupid?��
I glanced at him from head to toe, before nodding my head in agreement. ��You do.��
Rolling his eyes, Liam told me, ��I just wanted to see your reaction to this picture. I won��t expose you.��
��Good to know that you are not as stupid as you look like,�� I told him and took a seat on the sofa of my study. ��Have a seat,�� I offered Liam and he sat as well.
��Look, we can call it even,�� said Liam, looking at me, ��I have proof against you and you have proof against me. So we can just not bother each other.��
I hummed in response. ��We can stay even as long as we don��t betray each other. Once one betrays, the other one goes down as well,�� I announced.
��Yeah, exactly. We both might as well as stay afloat,�� Liam agreed with me. ��How is Ruby though?��
��She is fully fine and fast asleep. I didn��t want to disturb her so I stayed in the study,�� I answered and snapped my fingers. Immediately, a servant came inside. I asked Liam, ��Coffee?��
��Sure,�� he agreed.
I told the servant, ��Bring two cups of coffees along with some refreshment.��
After hearing my order, the servant got out of the study to bring what I had ordered.
��Vexon,�� Liam started speaking, ��Look, I won��t harm you anymore. Because ruining you is like ruining Ruby��s life and I won��t do that. I have always treated Ruby as my sister since childhood.��
I arched an eyebrow. ��Then why did you do all those with a small girl who adored you a lot?��
Immediate guilt came over to him as he averted his gaze. ��I am really ashamed of what I did to Everley. Power was controlling my mind and I became crazy for promotion.�� He further spoke, ��If possible, just give me a chance to speak to Everley for once. I will apologize and go away from your life forever.��
��She is sleeping as well so you can talk to her tomorrow,�� I said after giving enough thought in this matter. ��I need you to do one thing for me.��
��What is it? I will try my best to help you,�� he urged to help me.
I let out, ��You have to release all those boxes of drugs you seized and release my people who went to bribe you.��
Liam thought for a while before agreeing. ��Sure, this will be an easy task. I will do that and in exchange, I can meet Everley before I go away.��
��Where are you going though?�� I inquired and the servant came, handing us our coffee and placed the tray filled with refreshments on the coffee-table.
��I asked my senior to transfer me to some other place,�� he replied to me and I was amused at him.
Liam realized his mistakes and he was ready to leave our lives. He was also rectifying all his mistakes, which was a good thing.
��Well then, I am happy for you,�� I mumbled and took a sip of my coffee. We continued to chat for some more time, until it was late enough and he went back to his house.
I went to my bedroom, only to find Ruby sleeping peacefully. I looked at her beautiful glowing caramel skin. Then I brushed her black hair which was repeatedly covering her pretty face. Not wanting to disturb her, I illuminated the lights of the balcony and stood there, holding the railing.
Life was indeed weird. I haven��t expected things to go like this. I thought our happily ever after started as soon as we heard that Ruby was pregnant. But how could I forget that I was in the Mafia?
As long as I am in the Mafia, I and my family, we will always remain in danger. The kidnapping of Everley and Ruby made me realize, if this happened this time, it will happen once again. Any of my enemies can kidnap my family to extract revenge from me and I have to stay prepared for everything.
I was the one who dragged my family into this life and I have to take the full responsibility. I need to be calm and not break down. I cannot assure that whether they will get kidnapped or not in the future, but all I can assure is I will give them the best security ever possible. I won��t let them get hurt. It��s better to keep them safe forever and later, we can see what the future holds.
But I would like to wish one thing to God.
Please God, if my family falls in trouble, just make me stand in the front of them, to protect them. Let me be the shield for my family.
I don��t want to lose any of my loved ones. I have already lost my brothers, my parents right in front of my eyes and I know how it feels to lose the loved ones. But God has given me this small happy family now, consisting of Ruby, Everley, Allison, and my unborn baby. If something happens to them as well, I won��t be able to live.
As I was busy in my thoughts, Ruby suddenly opened the balcony door. She was panting and her eyes were teary as well, as she said, ��Pearl had a miscarriage.��
