Ruby
Ever since I have stepped into the Bevine mansion, Vexon didn't let me even leave our bedroom. He made sure I had everything as demanded, while I was sitting on the bed. Actually, half sitting and half laying on the bed was my condition. It also eased the ache in my back.
I had already met up Everley and Allison. Both of them were very happy after seeing me. Especially Everley. She hadn't left my side after I returned home. I kissed her cheeks and made her sleep while narrating a bedtime story since it was night already.
Vexon stepped into the bedroom in his nightwear and I arched an eyebrow at him.
"What?" he asked, approaching me.
I replied to him, amusement lingering in my tone, "You didn't go to the Gladiolus today. It's already midnight."
He sat next to me and took my hands in his, speaking in a soft tone, "I won't go to the Gladiolus anymore. I will just go on Sunday, that too for some limited hours only."
"Why?" I questioned him.
He answered with a sigh, "After what I have gone through and how you guys suffered in my absence, I don't want to repeat it ever again. I will stay with y'all as much as I can."
"Besides," I added, "You barely sleep. Sleeping for two-three hours doesn't give you peace. One needs a sound sleep adequately to function normally. In between office and the Gladiolus, you lost your sound sleep and that made you so moody. Even the littlest things ticked you off."
Vexon hummed in response. "I know. This is why I am trying to come into a stable schedule. It will take time, but I am trying." He placed a hand over my cheek this time, looking into my gray eyes with his blue ones. I could see the fear of losing me in those orbs of his. "I don't want to lose you."
I flashed a big smile at him. "I am right here, and I don't plan on leaving you ever again."
"I saw that car blasting and turning into ashes right in front of my eyes. You have no idea how I felt at that moment. I just can't express it. The pain it was all too much." He further spoke, remembering the scene, "I don't want to even think about it. The thought is very scary."
"Even I thought it was the time I would leave the Earth, but when I saw I was alive, I knew you would find me. So I just tried to stay healthy and safe for the baby and myself," I explained to him about my situation. Then a question arose in my mind, so I asked him, "Why were you at the spot that day?"
He chortled, shaking his head slightly. "How can you think I will let you leave me?"
I gasped. "Did you follow me after I left for my mom's house?"
Vexon nodded his head. "I wanted to follow immediately, but my ego was stopping me. However, my ego didn't last long. I just stormed off the house and started following your car. And then, I saw it..." It was becoming difficult for him to continue. He was really afraid to even think of it. Thus, I didn't want him to think about it anymore. I would whatever it takes to make him forget that terrifying scene.
"You know," I blurted out in order to distract him from the previous topic, "After I was in the car, I regretted it so damn much."
"Really?" he asked in disbelief.
I nodded my head. "Really. I told the driver to turn the car back to the Bevine mansion, but just then, he told me that the brakes of the car failed. I was so scared." I further spoke, "I kept praying to God for the welfare of you guys and my last wish was to see my small happy family."
Vexon rubbed my hands. "I am really happy to see you once again. I can't picture my life with you." With that, he pulled me into a hug. "I love you."
I stroked his back, mumbling back, "I love you too."
I was really glad to return home. Honestly speaking, I didn't expect everything would fall in place so soon. But what happens, happens for the best.
If Everley wasn't kidnapped, we wouldn't have understood how much risk we were surrounded by and the same went with me. If I wasn't kidnapped, I wouldn't have understood that come what may, the enemies were still looking for an opportunity to kidnap me and get back at Vexon.

VEXON
"Arrange my tour for France," I ordered Mane, through the phone. "Make proper arrangements because you know she is pregnant."
Mane chuckled. "Will do, boss."
I uttered, "Okay."
As I was about to cut the call, Mane said, "Boss."
I placed the phone back over my ear. "Yeah?"
He spoke up after a few seconds of silence. "I am really happy that the Boss lady is okay. You can leave the Gladiolus to me for basic work. Just give your full time to your family. They need you after a series of trouble y'all went through."
I hummed in response. "Yes, I am counting on you. Honestly speaking, I thought life was always mean to me but when I got Everley and Ruby back, I knew that life wasn't mean to me. In fact, I never learned to love my life, which I have learned now."
"I am glad you realized that, Boss," said Mane.
"Vexon Bevine," a voice came up from behind and when I turned to look behind, I saw Liam Jackson, with a smirk on his face as he showed me his phone screen. There was a photo of me firing some men of the Mafia Tentrons while rescuing Ruby. I knew I was in deep trouble.
"Boss, are you okay?" Mane questioned me and I realized, I was still on the phone, so I had to cut the call before Mane could realize what was wrong. I was sure he already guessed something was wrong.
"I will call you later," I told him and cut the call, before looking at Liam with an expressionless look.
Liam gave a devilish grin and let out, "Now, I have the proof and no one can stop my promotion in work."
Liam was going to expose me to the cops now. This was my end.
