"I don't understand. This water is only up to your chest, Gem. You can't drown!" I cried, letting out a frustrated sigh.
It had been trying to teach Ruby to swim for a week. She was still not comfortable in the pool.
"I don't trust the water, even if it's only up to my chest!" Ruby snapped back.
I furrowed my eyebrows. She had been extremely moody as of late. And she calls me the moody one. "Alright. Give me your hand, trust me. I won't let you drown."
She hesitated but placed her hands over mine. "You won't betray me like that trainer, will you?"
I chuckled.
When mom (yes, Mrs. Syna Gerund��now Mrs. Syna Colenas, finally permitted me to call her mom) told me about Ruby being afraid of water, I decided to teach her personally. Apparently, Ruby and Pearl, both were enrolled for swimming classes. Ruby didn't go the second day because she said that the trainer had let her drown.
"Alright, I am trusting you on this, Vexon," Ruby said.
I pulled her in the pool once again. "See? It's not that hard."
All of a sudden, she slipped and pulled me under. "I am never going to learn to swim!" Ruby exclaimed once we emerged from the water.
She flapped around until she reached the side of the pool and climbed out. I watched her slim body from behind. She was wearing that white bikini she knew which drove me crazy.
She spoke all of a sudden, "Stop watching me and get up. I am hungry."
Without waiting for another second, I got up and followed her.

"Vexon, something is wrong with me!" Ruby shouted, waking me up from my nap.
"What?" I asked groggily.
"I think I am going to die."
My eyes grew wide with terror. I sat up and saw tears sliding down her cheeks. I cupped her crying face. "What's wrong?" I asked tenderly.
Ruby showed me the chocolate bar she was holding. "This is wrong," she sobbed.
"Chocolate is wrong?"
"I can't eat chocolate. I am feeling nauseous whenever I try to eat it. Something is wrong with me!" she cried.
I wiped her tears.
Ruby unable to eat chocolate? Something was really wrong.
I said to her, "Let me call the doctor."
I kissed her forehead and called Mr. Winer, whom I had hired for Gladiolus after he had taken such good care of Ruby when she was shot. I didn't want to take any risks about him revealing the Mafia deeds. He arrived in only ten minutes.
"What is it? Is she okay? Why is she feeling sick? Is she��" the doctor cut me off and said something that rocked me to my core.
"Congratulations, boss. She is pregnant!"
I stood there dumbstruck. I glanced at Ruby, only to find her staring back at me with the same expression.
Did he just say that my Gem is pregnant? Am I going to be a father?
Mr. Winer cleared his throat. "I will leave you two alone now," he said, sensing the awkward silence and left the room.
"Vexon... we are going to have a baby. We��"
I wrapped her in my arms tightly. "We are going to be parents again! We are going to have a baby. Thank you so much, Gem! You have made me the happiest man alive. I love you so much."
"I love you too," she giggled.
"Okay, now I need to find a nutritionist, a caretaker, a full-time chef, a ��"
Before I could continue, she placed her lips on mine. "Live in the moment, babe," she whispered on my lips.
I held her chin and roughly kissed her back, with full happiness forming inside us.

"Eve, you are going to be a big sister!"
Everley squealed with joy at Ruby's words. She had improved day by day, proving Ruby right. Our surrogate daughter just needed some love and affection.
"Wow! Yay! Once he or she comes, I will make the baby do all my work," Everley beamed. "Where is the baby now, Mom?"
Ruby answered hesitantly, "Umm... in my stomach?"
"How did the baby get in there?" asked Everley.
Ruby and I shared a look before I chuckled. "Best of luck explaining that," I muttered and strode away.
I was happy with my life. Everything was going fine. Who said one needs to have a happily ever after? If we have our loved ones, life will be eternally blissful.
I still couldn't believe I was about to start a family with the girl whom I had fallen in love at first sight. Why do we need to hear fairytales when we can create our own?
I was proud to have my Ruby and Everley, and now a child of my own. This is my life, and being the Mafia Gladiolus King could never ruin that.

RUBY
Everything was going perfectly in our life. I couldn't believe that I was going to give birth to the heir of the Gladiolus.
I used to hate the Mafia life, but things changed. I wanted my baby to rule this Mafia world.
After evading Everley's questions about where babies come from, I had gone to Vanera's room. I didn't know why but I felt like I needed her blessing.
My eyes traveled to a small journal on the coffee table. A page was folded down and I decided to open it out of curiosity.
'Alan,
Ruby is a nice girl. I used to think she was a danger to our son. I refused to give her the correct information about the coronation, but she fulfilled those duties well. Because of this, I finally approved of her. I feel guilty for doing bad things to her and I wish I could apologize. Anyways, I just want to be able to see my grandchild before dying. I will tell Ruby to name the child according to the names I have decided. For a girl, Rayva and for a boy, Vayden.'
I cried while reading Vanera's journal. She wrote the entry to Alan Bevine, my demised father-in-law.
"I am sorry, Mom. I am happy to have your blessing," I whispered.
"Mom! Where are you?" Everley called out.
I closed the journal and ran back to Everley.
She was on her bed, watching the pig cartoon with Vexon on his lap. I watched them in amusement.
Vexons noticed me and smiled. "I love you, Gem," he said.
"I love you too," I said as I joined them on the bed.
