Ruby
"Ah, welcome, dear! You are so pretty." Vanera happily hugged Keya as we entered the Bevine mansion. "None of my sons made the wrong choices," she said which made Keya lower her head in shyness.
But I just rolled my eyes at Vanera's comment. Vexon intertwined our hands, which made me glance at him.
"Come. I called the lawyer to bring marriage papers." Vanera grinned and we all went to the living room. "Oh and welcome, Nafeesa dear. You are free to stay here and pursue your dream. Ruby informed me."
Nafeesa smiled at her words. Then she mumbled a small 'Thank you' to me.
I smiled at her.
"Kace, honey please show Nafeesa her room," Vanera said to him and he groaned. Newana clenched her fist, but she tried not to react. I noticed it because she was in front of me.
Nafeesa was very sleepy and she didn't want to be late for her admission tomorrow. So Vanera decided to let her rest as soon as she entered the mansion.
When we stepped into the living room, a man in his thirties was waiting there, wearing a golden suit. It reminded me that I had to design an outfit for the Gladiolus.
"The man who threw me in this life," Vexon mumbled under his breath. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
"Hey, Mr. Simon," Cason greeted.
The man smiled. "Hello, Cason." Then he turned to Vexon and approached with a smile and bowed. "Hello, King and" Eying me from head to toe, he greeted me as well, "Hi, beautiful queen."
I gave a genuine smile at his respect. However, my husband groaned.
Why does Vexon hate him so much?
"You are really beautiful," he mumbled.
"Well, she is my wife." Vexon gave a tight-lipped smile and placed a hand on my waist. "Where are the papers?"
"Here are the marriage papers." Mr. Simon took the file from the table and took a seat on one of the couches. We all sat on the couches. Newana was on my right side while Vexon on my left.
"Seriously? Your flirty cousin, Nafeesa? Why did you bring her too? What crime did your aunt commit?" Newana whispered to me in a harsh tone.
I avoided her comment.
Soon Keya and Cason signed the papers, and the lawyer went away. Vanera sent Orson to prepare the bed for the wedding night.
I still had no idea how Orson was arranging everything upstairs. I meant that kid had no idea.
"Trust me, Orson knows way better than others," Vexon blurted out.
I looked at him in confusion. "What do you mean?" I whispered.
He chuckled. "Stay as the innocent queen, please. Plus, your expression is cute."
I blushed at his comment. He needed to stop complimenting out of nowhere.
"Ruby, check if Orson's done. How long will our newlywed couple wait?" Vanera broke our small talk.
I stood up and fixed my black t-shirt which I wore with royal blue jeans. Vexon made sure that I changed my dress as soon as we were on the jet.
"I will accompany her," Vexon said, standing up. Vanera sent us a teasing look. Vexon cleared his throat. "I mean, you know she still gets lost."
I glared at him. He smirked and held my arm. We were on the stairs, making our way to Cason's room. His room was on the second floor too.
"I know the way, okay?" I said.
"I know," he retorted.
I rolled my eyes and remained silent until we reached in front of a white door. I opened the white door of the bedroom. As soon as we entered, the smell of roses hit my nostrils.
Yikes. I hate flowers.
We scanned the whole room. It was arranged with red roses along with candles as dim light. What is Orson, a florist?
I scrunch up my nose in disgust.
"How is it?" Orson asked in excitement.
"Florist," the word slipped out of my mind before I could control myself. I mentally slapped my forehead.
Orson's face held pure confusion, whereas Vexon had an amusing look plastered on his face.
"It feels like a job done by a florist, so flourishing and refreshing," I managed to transform the sentence.
Orson grinned. "Thanks! I knew everyone would love it. I'm going to inform mom that everything is ready," with that, he went out of the rosy bedroom.
"You don't like flowers, do you?" Vexon inquired after Orson left the room.
I groaned as he prevented a smile that was trying to form on his lips. "I know, I know! I may be the first person in the world who doesn't like flowers and blah blah blah. But I'm a human, okay? And" I paused midway when a hand was put on my mouth.
"You talk way too much," Vexon said, his eyes holding a glint of amusement.
My grey eyes were lost in his light blue ones. I always wanted my husband to have blue eyes so that my child could have it too. Now, I have a blue-eyed husband, but thinking of having an intimate relationship with him was giving me goosebumps, let alone having a child.
"And here's your bedroh, looks like the king and the queen are having an intimate moment here," Vanera's voice made us shriek.
Vexon removed his hand and I took a step away from him. I looked at the door, only to find the newlyweds and Vanera. Orson was facing the door, with his phone in his hand. The whole room had an awkward silence.
"Enjoy," I broke the silence and walked past them, storming towards our bedroom.
Gosh! This was so embarrassing.

"Why do you shine in the dark? You keep giving hopes to people, don't you?" I questioned the stars while gazing at them from the swing of our balcony.
I changed into my regular shorts after sorting my accessories. I took the last bite of my Bournville chocolate. I told Maya to bring me one. I put the wrapper on the small table in front of me.
Vexon entered the room a few minutes ago and he was currently in the shower. I didn't turn to face him but I heard the door click.
I put my phone on silent because I didn't want to talk to mom about the matter right now. She was definitely angry at me for helping Keya.
Life surely does change people.
Earlier, I was even afraid to sneak out of the house and look at me now. I help a bride escape from her own wedding from a country.
What a change, Ruby! Wow!
I felt the swing beside me dip. The smell of Vexon's shampoo hit my nostrils. I didn't stop gazing at the stars.
He wrapped an arm around my shoulder. Without any hesitation, I laid my head on his chest. Despite having his t-shirt on, I could hear his steady heartbeat. But it was getting faster every time I tried to concentrate on it.
He was quite surprised, I guess. But how could I explain the weird feeling growing inside me? My heartbeats were faster than usual, only if he could hear it.
"Look at the small, shining star," I pointed it out. Vexon hummed in response.
We both stayed in that posture. He was rubbing my arm with one hand and stroked my hair with the other. We were looking at the small shining star.
The peaceit waa so soothing. Every time I watched the stars and talked to them, it was never this much comforting as the posture we were in right now.
Since childhood, every time I stared at the stars, it felt as if a part of me was missing. I thought it was only my imagination.
But today, it felt like the missing part was completed. I had stars to shine the dark sky, mouth to blabber to particularly no one. Now I realized what was missing. Just a companionto hug, to cuddle.
A husbandto share everything with. A person who would understand me just by looking into my eyes.
I wanted to give Vexon a chance. But if he was really good, then why did he act like a beast at the wedding?
He was calm right now. Should I ask him now? But what if he got angry?
"I was drugged," Vexon blurted out of nowhere. I didn't move. I waited for him to continue.
What did he mean by he was drugged?
"Gem, I was drugged at our wedding," his one sentence was enough for me to get out of the fallacy I was in.
