Ruby
"Finally! We are here," I said, wiping off my sweat. It was very hot here.
The sun rays directly fell on our face. My RayBan goggles helped me, not to go blind and my light blue jumpsuit didn't help me at all. Vexon and Orson did the same but Cason, who forgot to bring his goggles.
"I never knew it would be so shiny-shiny hot here!" Cason whined.
"And that's why you should have done your research," Orson retorted.
"I can't believe we are walking. My poor car," Vexon complained for the fifteenth time. He rolled the sleeves of his light blue shirt, which he wore with jeans.
"You believing won't change anything. Just keep walking," I deadpanned.
Damn, this hot weather. I'll turn into a sizzling soon.
After landing, we had to take Vexon's car, which he bought before even coming here. I wondered whether he bought cars for himself in every damn country. As his car couldn't cross the narrow road, we started walking without our luggage, because our guards were dragging it behind us.
"How far? Are we anywhere near that place?" Cason asked, panting hard.
"The house must be somewhere here..." I said, looking around. There were meadows and huge trees everywhere. Hardly, there were any houses. Just small huts were noticeable.
"Please tell me, we are walking in the correct direction," Vexon prayed and I side-eyed him until my eyes fell on a light pink colored house decorated with fairy lights.
"Found it!"
"Where?" the Bevine brothers asked in unison, getting excited.
"There." I pointed to the house. As soon as they saw the house, their balloon of excitement burst.
"What?" Vexon asked shockingly.
"This house?" Cason cringed.
"I want to go home," Orson whined.
"Stop acting like children," I said sternly to the three of them. "Just a little bit of a disclaimer. My aunt is very friendly when she sees the money. Nadia, her first daughter is polite and introverted. About Nafeesa" I stopped as soon as I mentioned her and glanced at Vexon.
"You better stay away from her. She will try rubbing herself with you. And if I see you being a doll, I swear I'll rip you off," I warned him, pointing a finger in his direction.
He chuckled but nonetheless nodded.
I heaved a sigh. "Cason, you too. She will try wooing you as well. Plus cherry on the cake, you're single. Anyways. As I was saying, stay away from Nafeesa. She is not good, and you all know about Keya. Only to save her, we came to Bangladesh. Now let's go inside."
I stepped inside with the Bevine brothers behind me.
"Ruby!" my aunt hollered and squeezed me in a hug out of nowhere. I was gasping for breath. "Oh, dear. You don't know how happy I am to see you!" she exclaimed in happiness, still squeezing the life out of me.
"You're killing her," Vexon said, slightly annoyed as she released me from her tight grip.
Her brown eyes flashed at me. She pulled my both cheeks. "Look at you. All grown up and beautiful. Oh my God!"
I gave a tight-lipped smile. I heard a few laughs from my back. The Bevine brothers were laughing at my distress.
"Aunt, meet my family. This is my husband, Vexon Bevine. They are my brothers-in-law, Cason and Orson Bevine," I introduced myself and their laughter was no longer heard.
My aunt flashed her toothy grin and approached them, pushing me away.
I rolled my eyes.
Where there is money, my aunt is honey.
She looked at Vexon at first and pulled his cheeks. "Oh my! What a handsome husband, Ruby! Nice to meet you, Vexen," her thick Bengali accent rolled from her tongue.
I laughed at the pronunciation of Vexon's name.
"It's Vexon," he corrected her.
"Awwyour accent is so nice, Vexen." I laughed so hard at this as Vexon glared at me. "If you were single, I would've hunted you down for my daughter Nafeesa."
At this, I stopped laughing and cleared my throat. "Unfortunately, he is married. Aunt, please meet the other Bevines so that we can go inside once you are done with this meet and greet thing," I said and she nodded.
Next, my aunt went in front of Cason. "Casen, right?" Cason gave a tight-lipped smile and looked at me. My laughter grew, seeing him.
He tried to correct her saying, "It's Cason."
"Same, Casen. You, brothers, have a habit of repeating your name. Anyways, you are handsome as well. Seeing you reminds me, you're going to love my daughter Nafeesa. She is" I cut her off.
"Okay, that's it. Just meet Orson and let us go inside. I'm already very tired."
"Okay. Orson dear, it's nice to meet you as well. I hope you had no trouble and oh my God. Your parents created some handsome species," my aunt complimented, which made Orson blush.
About parents... I just realized I never asked Vexon about his father. I mean, Pearl told me that he was dead. But how? Since they were in the Mafia, it wouldn't be a casual death.
I made a mental note to ask Vexon about this later on.
"Now, let's go. I wonder why you guys entered from here. This is the back door. The front door is closer from the highway."
The Bevine brothers glared at me when my aunt stated that.
I chuckled nervously. "I was only a toddler when I came here. The map and mom gave this direction"
"For you, we had to take the long cut." Cason threw daggers at me with his blue eyes.
I pouted.
"Stop doing that if you don't want me to kiss you," Vexon teased in a soft tone.
My eyes grew bigger at the thought of Vexon kissing my lips. It made butterflies erupt in my stomach. Instantly, I followed my aunt, inside the light pink house.
The two-storied house was decorated with fairy lights, to show that it was a wedding occasion.
I saw the three separate washrooms, outside the house. The kitchen was also outside, in front of the house and a little bit far away from the washroom. The whole property was secured with the boundary.
"Our house is a little bit old fashioned."
"It's old, aunt," I corrected her. She was a Bengali, though she knew basic English. Sometimes, she pronounced it wrong.
"Never bring me here," Orson mumbled.
"I'm so sorry, but we have only three bedrooms," my aunt said, averting her gaze.
"It's okay, Aunt. Vexon, Cason, and Orson will share one room. I will sleep with Nafeesa and Keya. You can sleep with Nadia," I said as Vexon held my arm.
"Stay with me," he whispered.
"I can't. I want to enjoy it with my cousins," I whispered back, and he groaned.
"Okay, it's all decided then. I'm going to show you the rooms. There is one bedroom upstairs. I will tell your gards to keep the stuff."
"Guards," I corrected her, which made my aunt smile. She patted my shoulder and disappeared.
"Oh wow! We have hotties in our house which made our already hot house with a hotter environment, the hottest," there spoke the annoying high pitched voice.
I turned around and looked at her. She was wearing blue tights with her yellow dress.
I put on a fake smile, and said curtly, "Nafeesa."
She did the same. "Ruby." She came, twirling her brown curls, and pulled me into a forceful hug.
I could see Nadia's brown eyes shining at me with a genuine smile. I gave her a smile in return and Nafeesa released me.
"It's so nice to meet you," she said in her fake English accent.
"I can't say the same." I gave a tight-lipped smile.
She went to Vexon and brushed her fingers on his arms. "Oh my! Suc a handsome bodybuilder. You're so sexy and" she licked her lips before completing, "Muscular," she tried to sound sexy, which made me almost puke.
A sting fell in my heart when I saw her fingers circling on his arm. What was this feeling?
Nevertheless, I slapped her hand off and wrapped my arm around Vexon. "Meet my husband, Vexon Bevine."
Nafeesa's pale skin instantly turned paler. She gave a tight-lipped smile."You are lucky, Ruby. But he can have a mistress as well apart from a wife."
"I am happy with my wife," with that, Vexon looked at me with a cute smile.
Nafeesa rolled her eyes. She went to flirt with Cason, who tried to hide behind Orson, but Orson was shorter than him.
I went to Nadia and greeted her, "Hey."
"Hello, Ruby. How are you?" she asked.
"Hello, I'm fine. How's your married life?" I inquired and the color drained out of her face. Her husband worked in the USA, so Nadia had to stay here.
"It's fine," Nadia replied, giving a toothy grin and I patted her shoulder.
"Where is Keya?" I asked Nadia.
She answered, "She is busy plucking flowers in our backyard."
I chuckled hearing this. It has been Keya's hobby since childhood.
"Okay, I am sorry to say, but you are really annoying," Cason mumbled to Nafeesa whereas other Bevine brothers were laughing at his condition.
The guards came, following my aunt. She showed them the room upstairs.
"Hey, Mendes." I stopped one of my guards. "Keep that luggage in this room," I said, pointing at my purple luggage, and he nodded. "I guess we all should take shower one by one," I suggested.
"Of course. I'm all sweaty," Cason murmured.
"I can wipe it off," Nafeesa whispered and I burst into laughter.
"Fuck off!" with that, Cason ran upstairs.
"Vexon, go upstairs and bring your clothes. Then you can take a shower," I said and he nodded, going upstairs with Orson.
I turned to Nadia and Nafeesa. "Let me get my things," with that, I went to the blue colored bedroom downstairs. I would be staying here with Keya and unfortunately Nafeesa too.
___
Vexon got out with his clothes in his hand. I, aunt and Nadiawe were sitting on the chairs, outside the house.
"Where is the washroom?" he asked me and I pointed it in the far distance three doors made of steel. He followed my finger and glanced back at me. "Is that the washroom?" He inquired in horror. I suppressed a laugh and nodded.
"Vexen! Dear, don't worry. Our washroom is so clean. I, myself, cleaned the washroom with the soap. The soap is very famous here and it is the most expensive soap here. Do you know, it is all in one soap? We take a bath with it, wash dishes, and clean houses. It smells so nice. You have to use that and"
"No!" Vexon interrupted my aunt with a loud voice, which made her gasp. But he tried to be polite after realizing what he did. "Iwhat? You use the same soap foryou..." Vexon was short in his words, to which I couldn't help but laugh.
"What about the shampoo, Aunt?" I asked, enjoying my Vexon mentally crying.
Aunt thought for a while before answering, "Oh! Shampoo? Wait." She went inside the house and ran towards us with a small packet. She handed it to Vexon. "Here, we use small shampoo stacks. Your hair will be smooth after you use this," aunt highly praised.
Vexon looked at the name of the brand, or more like trying to. But it was totally white, having no name or expiry date.
"Gem," Vexon called out and looked at me expectantly.
Dear Lord, his cute face was filled with terror. I laughed hard, unable to control my laughter.
"Is something wrong, Vexen?" my aunt asked, looking between us. He shook his head but kept his eyes on me.
"Wait," I said and went inside the house. I opened my luggage after entering the bedroom and took out Vexon's shampoo and body wash. I knew he didn't pack it. That's why I had put them in my luggage.
I rushed back outside and handed them to him. He sighed in satisfaction. He leaned in and kissed my cheek. "Thank you," Vexon whispered and I bit my lip, to save myself from the embarrassment.
My aunt and Nadia were in front of uswatching the PDA.
Aunt looked at us, dreamily. "When will my Nafeesa get someone like Vexen?"
I rolled my eyes.
Vexon avoided it and went towards the washroom. After a few seconds, he came back.
"Where is the shower?" he asked aunt.
"Ah well, it's a tubewell system. You need to press the pump and water will flow. Wait, you won't understand it. I will let Nafeesa fill a bucket of water for you," she said and started calling Nafeesa.
"Bucket?" He looked at me in disbelief. I shook my head, laughing.
Soon, Nafeesa came, with a caked-up face. Gosh! She did so much makeup. "Yes, Mom?"
"Fill a bucket of water for Vexen. Go," she ordered her younger daughter who nodded and looked at Vexon.
"Let's go, hottie."
Vexon rolled his eyes. "I prefer Vexon."
The sting I felt in my heart, turned into a burning sensation. I so wanted to help Vexon. But then again, pumping water from a tubewell was so hard. I didn't want to put in so much effort.
Let Nafeesa do this.
With that, I went inside the house, and Nadia and my aunt went to the kitchen.
___
"Why don't I have any network? Damn it!" I took my phone out in the open space, just to get a network.
Vexon made my sim International, so I had no trouble in sim. But I needed to have a network, which I barely had.
Wow!
I saw a bar of the network on the phone when I walked towards my left. I followed that route and saw it was near the washroom.
Nafeesa was filling a bucket of water and Vexon was standing inside the washroom, without his shirt.
I admired his six-pack and strong muscles. He looked like a Greek God.
But my ogling didn't last long when I saw Nafeesa doing the same. I felt so damn possessive.
How dare she to ogle him? Only I can do that because he's my husband!
I kept my phone in my pocket and slowly approached them. I went towards the washroom, which took Vexon by shock.
Nafeesa was outside, pumping water from the tubewellmore like ogling Vexon.
I looked at the bucket. The water was already overflowing from the bucket, but Nafeesa didn't notice.
"Hey! Eyes on the bucket, lady," I snapped at her.
She jolted up and looked at the bucket. "Oh!" she stated and stopped pumping. "Here, Vexon. You can take this bucket inside with your hot body."
"Since you're done, go," I said sternly.
She rolled her eyes and went away. Vexon took the bucket inside. I put my hands on my hips and glared at him.
"What?" he asked innocently.
"You better keep your clothes on in front of another woman. I swear, if I saw you without a shirt in front of another person, I am gonna feed you a lizard," I warned him, the fire igniting within me.
He had a blank look before I noticed a glint of mischief in his blue eyes. He approached me. "So, do you want me shirtless in front of you only?" he questioned and I took a step back.
"II never said that," I tried to defend myself. I could feel the heat running through my cheeks.
"Why are your cheeks so flushed?" he asked, caging me between his hands.
His bare body was distracting me. As much as I tried not to look at it, my eyes only went there.
"IVexon, you have toI am hungry," I said bluntly out of the blue.
He smirked. "I am hungry too," he said sensually and placed his hands on my waist. "for you. I'm just waiting for the day."
Feeling shy, I slightly pushed him away and was about to run away from the washroom.
"You look hot when you blush!" he hollered and I ran inside the house, with a creepy grin plastered on my face.
___
"Here, eat this. This is rice and pigeon curry. It has a nice taste when you mix and eat it. Use your hand," Aunt said, pouring more food on Vexon's plate, who looked at the food weirdly.
We were eating lunch now but Vexon was so picky about everything so he was having a hard time.
"We all eat here by hand," Aunt said and started eating from her plate.
I was eating mashed potatoes and rice with a spoon. I hated pigeon curry, so I didn't take it.
After Vexon, we all took a shower. Cason and Orson found tubewell amazing. So they filled the bucket on their own. Since they liked it so much, I made them fill my bucket for a bath as well.
Now, Cason and Orson were eating, enjoying all the food items. They loved trying new things, unlike my husband, who was busy glaring at the food.
He couldn't even say anything to my aunt. I finished eating and quickly washed my hands. Then I took the mashed potato and placed it on one side of his plate. He looked at me.
I suggested, "Eat this with rice."
He nodded and started eating, but I noticed him struggling. He just ate because I told him to. I knew that.
I felt so bad. I had to make dinner for him. He left his work and joined me here just to save Keya. So of course, I had to help him too.
"Where is Keya?" Cason asked all of a sudden.
I was about to answer until a soft yet excited voice spoke, "I plucked roses!"
I saw her brown eyes holding happiness. She wore a floral dress which reached till her toe. Her straight black hair was tied in a tight bun.
"Keya," I said and she looked at me. We kind of looked the same. Tan skinned, black hair, but I had long wavy hair and she had straight hair.
"Ruby?" She ran towards me handing the flowers to Cason as he was eating near her.
Cason was looking at her weirdly. The kind of emotion he had in his eyesit was the same I noticed in Vexon.
I'm overthinking.
"Ruby!" Keya pulled me in a hug.
"Keya!" I grinned and hugged her back.
After we were done, I introduced her to the Bevine brothers.
"Hi, it's a pleasure to meet you," Vexon said with a small smile and Keya blushed.
She was a very fragile girl.
"Finally! We came here for you," Orson blurted out and Keya looked at him.
"For me?" she asked, unsure of what she heard.
"Of course. Since you're getting married to Bebox Dun Dun..."
"Bexob Dundi," Vexon corrected Orson.
Keya's face fell, hearing the name. She let out a forced smile.
Surprisingly, Cason was awfully quiet this whole time. What was wrong with him?
___
"Pass me the bowl," I said to Keya. We both were in the kitchen outside the house. I was cooking Vexon's dinner and telling her my story after I stopped contacting her. I decided to make boiled vegetables and steak for him.
"So, how is everything going with the marriage and all that?" Keya asked me with interest.
"It is going smooth. You know, the Bevines are so good, to be honest. I am happy to stay with them. At first, I was so eager to run away, and now, I don't want to leave them," I replied, and automatically a smile took over my lips.
"Wow! You are lucky then," she let out.
"That I am."
"Do you believe in love at first sight, Ruby?" Her question made me stop doing my work.
"Does it exist?" I asked and she laughed it out.
"Vexon fell in love with you and he said it was love at first sight. Did he prove it by actions?" she interrogated me and I thought for a while.
He did every possible thing to make me happyto make me feel affectionateto make me feel loved.
I nodded as an answer to her question.
"Then how can you not believe in love at first sight?" Keya questioned and I went into deep thinking.
She was right. How could I not believe then?
Not believing in love at first sight was like not trusting Vexon's love for me.
"You're right," I stated.
Keya held my hand. "Ruby, you might not believe in love, but he does, and he shows it to you all the time. One day you will love him too."
"II don't understand what's love. It's beyond my understanding," I said quietly.
She sighed. "Look, you will understand one day. Till then, respect his feelings. Give him your time, trust him. Just try to reciprocate his feelings. I love you guys as a couple. I noticed the way he looks at you, his eyes filled with love."
Love.
Eyes filled with love.
The weird emotion in his eyes, which I was talking about, it was love.
He really loves me a lot.
I heaved a sigh. "Do you love Bebox Dun Dun?" I raised my eyebrows while asking.
"Do you think I would love that oldie? He is too old and he has married twice. I will be his third wife," Keya cringed in disgust.
"Then why don't you tell aunt?"
"You know how she is," she muttered under her breath.
I put a hand on her shoulder. "It's okay. We are here to protect you. We are going to save you from this marriage," I assured her and she nodded.
She had tears forming in her eyes. "I knew you would never leave me in a critical situation," with that, she hugged me. I patted her back.
Keya was like my best friend. I never left her side. Whenever she needed me, I ran there to save her, and I would continue to do so. She was like my little sister, though she was just a year younger than me. She was only twenty years old.
After wiping her tears, she took a long breath before saying, "Ruby, I fell in love at first sight." My eyes grew as big as saucers.
I asked hesitantly, "What? With whom?"
"Cason."
