Chapter 19

I lay there crying until sleep took over. When I awoke I resumed crying. All I wanted was my mommy.

I was taken to my grandma's house later. Grandma sat in her wheelchair and sighed a lot.

Grandma never liked Mommy or me before. We seldom saw each other before.

Grandma had the nanny bathe me. The nanny resisted, scared to bathe a child who had been with the deceased.

Unhappy with this, Grandma insisted on bathing me by leaning on her cane.

She wept as she bathed me,lamenting her tough life and claiming mine was tougher.

I didn't know why Grandma cried. But caught in her sadness, I cried for Mommy too.

Grandma tried calling Daddy but Daddy didn't pick up the phone.

She decided to bring me home. At home, Daddy sat silently. The bed was empty and Mommy was no longer there.

Daddy had grown a short beard.

Mommy disliked his beard. Daddy always replied that "If you don't like it, then help me shave it." With smile on her face, she will apply shaving foam to daddy's face and carefully shave his beard.

After that,Daddy would gaze at Mommy tenderly and kiss her.

But later, Mommy muttered in front of the mirror, "He's not looking at me. He's looking at someone else."

I was puzzled. There were only us three at home and Daddy did not look at me.How could it be possible that Daddy was looking at someone else?
