Chapter 8

Waking up early Mommy was still asleep. I had just finished giving her the morning medicine when I heard the doorbell.

"Could it be Daddy coming back?" I thought.

But I remembered Daddy never rings the doorbell. "Could it be a bad person?"

Mommy always said not to open the door to strangers.

"Who is it?" "I asked, standing at the door, with courage."

"Luna, it's me, Ms. Cross," came the reply.

Hearing Ms. Cross I quickly yelled, "You can't come in, go away!"

Mr. Cross must be bad.

I remember clearly. Mommy cried a lot ever since her last visit 

Daddy wasn't home that day.

Mommy opened the door. A person stood outside saying her name was Aurora Cross. She looked Mommy up and down then smiled, "You do look a bit like me."

I saw Mommy's face change. I had never seen her like that before.

I watched silently. Yet I thought they couldn't possibly look alike.

My Mommy's eyes are full of gentleness. Her smile is the most beautiful in the world.

No matter how much Mr. Cross looks like Mommy I can always recognize mine. She is the most special and warm-hearted person in my heart.
