Chapter 1

When I opened my eyes this morning, it was still kinda dark outside. Mommy usually wakes me up at this time to get me ready for kindergarten.

But today, she was still sleeping and motionless.

I went to touch Mommy and found that ooh, Her body was cold and riggid and not warm as always.

I got a little scared and whispered, "Mommy, I am hungry."

But no matter how many times I tried to wake her, she didn't get up to hug and comfort me like she always does.

Mommy always said, "Before we sleep, we gotta make sure that we got our covered." So, I covered Mommy with her blanket.I got up and went to look for my Dad.

Though I reminded that my daddy hasn't been home for many days.

Ms.Brook said that Daddy might not come back because of some grown-up stuff. She also mentioned something I didn't really get, like "the apple of my Daddy's eye." I only know apples are one kinda sweet fruits.

I once asked Mommy what "the apple of my Daddy's eye" was. Mommy seemed a bit sad and told me it's something we can't have, something from a story that belong to the past.

I still don't quite understand, but I've started to hate apples. Because I feels that apples have somehow taken Daddy away from us.
