"I mean, I still have a chance to prove myself to you," she said, taking my hand and kissing it. I blushed, so cheesy. She pulled the car open for me when we got to my house.
"Let me walk you in."
"No, you should go home; it's getting late."
"Nah, it's no big deal. Gotta protect you from danger."
"Come on, my house is just a few steps in," I said, giggling.
"Doesn't matter. I must protect you from the insect," then she smiled. "I had a great time. I hope we can do this again."
"Sure, why not?"
"Okay, since tomorrow is the weekend, why don't you show me around? Take me to the new places around."
"That's awesome; tomorrow, I'll show you some fun places."
"It's a date then."
"Yeah." I nodded. I kissed her on her cheek. "Goodnight, Avery. I had a good time with you."
I got in and noticed my brother was standing there smiling like a fool.
"Oh my gosh. How was it? Where did you go? And why are you back so late?"
"Enough with the questions, bro; I am so tired, I need to rest."
"Nah, not before telling me what happened."
"Okay, just give me five minutes to change."
"Come on, what are you hiding? I am your bro, not just your bro, your twin, and I have seen you change for a long time. That was years ago. I am older now, so don't come in," I said, locking my door. I don't want him to see my scars. He would question me.
I told him everything that happened.
"So, do you like her?"
"Of course, I do."
"I mean, do you want to date her?"
"I-I don't know."
"Look, Violet, I know how much you want to be with Maddy but give Avery a chance, remember she was once your crush. You might develop your feelings for her again."
"I'll try."
"Good, so where are you guys going tomorrow?"
"Nope, not telling, it's a secret. Whatever, I'm going to bed. Goodnight, sis."
"Yeah, night."
I couldn't sleep. I just can't stop thinking of Maddy. Her eyes kept hunting me that night, the look of disappointment she gave me when I told her I was going out with Avery.
Well, what did she expect? She did reject me, so I need to move on. I want to be happy as well. Jason and Maddy don't want me, but I need to try and forget them. At least Avery likes me, and that's enough for me. I just hope tomorrow goes well.
"Hey, you're here early."
"I didn't know you would still be sleeping."
"Sorry, I slept late."
"It's no problem. Can I come in?"
"Oh, sorry." I moved aside and let her in.
"Let me freshen up. I'll be back."
Maddy POV
"Look, I asked you to be my girlfriend, and you rejected me, so why are you jealous seeing me with Avery?"
"I am not jealous. I just think she's using you."
"No, she's not," I sigh. "Maddy, I know you want to protect me, keep me safe and all that, but I'm a grown-up; I can look after myself."
"B-But she's."
"No! If you can't be happy for me, then I don't think we can be friends anymore," she said, leaving me shocked and surprised by her outburst.
"Whoa, what was that?" Dani asked.
"It is nothing."
"That is not nothing."
"Just drop it, Dani, okay?"
"Sure."
We went to our next class, and Violet was sitting with Avery. When did she move there? Is this the end of our friendship? I kept staring at them.
"Why do you keep looking at them like that?"
"I just don't believe Avery, I know you trust her, but I don't. After all Violet did to her, she suddenly comes back and starts flirting with Violet, and now they are dating. Do you believe that shit?"
"Oh, my goodness, Maddy, you're jealous. I thought you said you didn't like Violet like that."
"I am not jealous; I'm just observant."
"More like obsessed."
"Am not," I said, glaring at my sister.
"Then stop staring at her. You rejected her, so let her move on unless you're actually interested in her," my sister said, staring at me.
"Are you?" Dani asked.
"No! I don't like her that way, I already told you, I like older women."
"Just because you want older women doesn't mean you can't like younger ones as well. How do you even know you like older women?"
"Because I like older actresses and--"
"See, you just rushed and accepted that you like older women. What if Violet is the one for you?"
"What then?"
"You've already rejected her, and now you're trying to destroy her relationship with Avery."
"I-I-I..."
"Look, sis, you have to let her go; you don't want her, so let her be."
"Violet, come on, let's talk."
"No, I have nothing to say to you."
"Why not? I am your friend."
"Well, maybe I don't want to be your friend anymore. I don't want someone that can't support me or doesn't want me to be happy."
"So that's what you want? Fine then. I don't want to be your friend anymore, as kind as you keep being with that bitch," I growled, leaving her there in tears.
When I got home, I kept blaming myself.
"Gosh, why did I do that? I hurt her again. I am such a fool; I'm in love with Violet; that's the only explanation for all this jealousy and heartbreak I am feeling now."
"Oh, now you know you're a fool, I did tell you."
"What should I do? Well, no am not taking advice from you Addy, you give the most stupid advice ever."
"When did I?"
"Well, remember when you told Alex to take Susan to a nightclub on their first date, who the hell does that, and you told…"
"Okay, you're right; I give stupid advice. Ask Lia for help then. Oops, sorry, she's on vacation with Mom, so you're stuck with me."
"Nope, I'll just ask Dani, or I'll just avoid Violet. I need to think about this; I don't want to hurt her again. What if Avery makes her happy? What if she's the one for her?"
