Maddy POV
Few days later
Violet has been avoiding me for days now, and I don't like it. I miss her a lot. I hate that she won't look at me.
She runs away anytime I try to approach her. I know what I did was wrong, but I like her as a friend. School today was kind of fun. There's a tryout for some sports, and everyone has been busy. I wanted to try out on basketball, even Alex is.
But Addy is lazy as always; she's too busy to do any activities in school. Like, what the hell is she doing? Nothing!
Violet POV
"Look who's back."
"Avery?"
"Avery, oh my gosh, when did you come back?"
"Well, I arrived two days ago."
"Wow, you look so hot."
"Yeah, I know, right."
"Yep, she looked different, her hair color and her dressing."
"Gone was the nerdy Avery. This one looked different, well, good different."
She must have noticed me staring at her body. She just smirked. I can't just look away; she's definitely looking hot. I didn't want her to see me after what we did to her, but Dani said she had forgiven me but how true was that? She sat next to me.
Why did we have lunch right now? I'm trying to avoid her, but she's making it complicated. This is impossible; now my ex is sitting beside me, they both kept me in the middle; this is so awkward. I am trying to avoid them, but that seems impossible at the moment.
Should I just run out with my lunch? I don't want to look rude. I know Avery is looking at me, but I don't have the guts to look back at her. What would I even say? 'Hey, sorry for what I did.'
Is that how to start this conversation right now? I want to apologize to her in private. And there is my best friend or ex. I don't even know what to call her anymore. I know she's also looking at me, and I have been avoiding her a lot, but I needed to respect her decision.
I can't just give up on our friendship because this is going to be hard. I can't get her out of my mind, but I think it's the best thing to do. I kept thinking about what to do until I heard Avery clear her throat.
I turned to look at her.
"Hey, Violet, how are you? I missed you."
"You did?"
"Yes, I did, she laughed."
"So you're not mad at me anymore? Yeah, I am not, Violet. Now stop with the questioning and give me a hug." I stood up and hugged her. Gosh, I missed her. We talked, and I checked her class schedule. I guess we have the same classes.
After school, I waited for Maddy to come out; I wanted to talk to her now. Well, I just wanted my friend back.
"Maddy!" I shouted her name and walked closer to her.
"I see you're no longer avoiding me."
"Yes, I am not and have thought about it a lot. If you want us to just be friends, then I am okay with it."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Thank you." She hugged me. "So, can I come over?"
"No! I won't be at home. I have to go see a dentist."
"Okay then, bye." She waved at me.
Alright, school has been so good. Although I don't talk much with Maddy, I spend most of my time showing Avery around the school. It's not like I'm avoiding her or something; I just want some alone time.
Avery is fun to be with. She doesn't talk much about herself; maybe she's not ready to open up.
"Hey Violet, will you go out with me?"
"Like a date?"
"Yes, a date." She looked at her feet.
"Or we can just go as…"
"Yes, I'll go on a date with you, Avery."
"Y-You mean that?"
"Yes, of course. Where are we going?"
"Oh, to the cinema, I want to take it slow, you know."
"Sure."
"Good, I'll pick you up tonight," she
said, pecking my cheek while I blushed.
"So you're going on a date with her?"
"Yes. Is there a problem?"
"No, I am just worried. You know, she just came back. What if she's pretending or using you?" I winced.
"Look, she already forgives me. Avery is not that kind of person."
"Are you defending her now?"
"Of course, I am. She is my friend, well was, but that doesn't matter; she might be my girlfriend after tonight."
"Seriously, you can't date her."
"Why not?"
"Because--"
" I've to go. I need to get home early and prepare for my date."
I opened my door.
"Hi." She looked at me from head to toe. "You look beautiful, Violet."
"Thank you," I replied.
"Here, a rose for the most beautiful girl I know." She gave me the flower.
"Thank you."
"Are you ready?"
"I guess we were both nervous."
"Yeah, let's go." She opened the car door for me. What a gentlewoman.
After we got there, she allowed me to pick the movie I wanted. It was fun. I didn't want the night to end. She suggested we go to the carnival that was going on. I had so much fun; I love the fact she's taking my mind off Maddy.
Still can't believe she rejected me. What was I expecting? Maybe this is an excellent way to move on, but I just can't forget about Maddy; I'm in love with her, it's just too quick to move on. I fucking hate the way I am feeling right now.
"Are you alright?" Avery asked.
"Yes, I am okay."
"But you're so quiet, the Violet I know would have been talking my ear off right now," she says, trying to cheer me up, but it was not working.
"Yeah, I know. I just have a lot on my mind."
"Are you thinking about Maddy?"
"H-How did you know?"
"Well, people talk. I heard she rejected you. Although I am angry for what she did, but... at the same time, I'm happy."
