When I woke up, Zanen was gone.
The phone on the bedside had been tampered with. He deleted both Sebastian and Lucas's contacts, leaving only his own, labeled "Baby." I left the keys and smiled. Jealousy is never a good thing.
After my vacation, I returned to the office, and there was a mountain of work waiting for me.
While I was struggling to catch up, my colleague knocked on my door.
"Vivian, can you help me entertain a client this afternoon? I have an urgent matter."
I'm face-blind, so I rarely handle client meetings, but I figured I could manage just this once.
I agreed casually, but I didn't expect the visitor to be Sebastian.
There was still a red mark on the spot behind his ear where I had bitten him. His hair was perfectly styled, but he looked unmistakably tired.
"Mr. Blackwood, is there anything else you'd like me to show you?"
Sebastian stared at me, then seemed to snap back to reality. "Let's take a break in your office."
Everyone else followed the administrator to the company cafeteria, leaving just the two of us in the room.
I poured him a glass of water. "What a coincidence, I didn't expect it to be you. Does Lucas know you're here?"
Sebastian ran his fingers along the edge of the cup. "He doesn't. Is that important?"
"Not really. Lucas doesn't like hearing about work matters."
At the mention of Lucas, Sebastian stood up, interrupting me.
"Your ear, what happened to it?"
Oh, it was probably Zanen's doing. I didn't like leaving marks on my body, but these were lessons that needed to be learned over time.
I touched my earlobe and looked up at him.
"Mr. Blackwood, are you so concerned about other people's girlfriends?"
Just last month, I'd been clinging to him, and now I was calling myself "someone else's girlfriend."
Sebastian turned the cup in his hand, the steam swirling in his palm.
He gritted his teeth. "Is that a problem?"
I pushed my phone in front of him. "Not at all. You can talk to Lucas about it."
The word "Baby" on my screen blinked, and Sebastian flinched, turning his face away.
"Vivian, do you really have to be like this?"
I didn't understand. He had been the one who was flirting with me, and now it seemed like I was the one forcing him into a corner.
"Not willing to admit it, Mr. Blackwood? Planning to have an affair with me?"
Sebastian's eyelids twitched more violently. He raised his chin to look at me. "Is that a problem?"
The first time I met Sebastian, he had been in a nightclub, wearing a suit with even the first button done up.
His male secretary stood properly beside him, unlike Lucas's usual carefree vibe. A man like this was now saying things like this.
Sebastian stepped forward, his lips brushing the bite mark on my earlobe. His breath was urgent and hot. His cufflink dug into my waist, but his voice trembled like a small cub.
He repeated, "Is it a problem, Vivian?"
I tilted my head back. "Yes."
Sebastian's movements halted, and the heat at my neck gradually faded.
"Why?"
I pushed him away, straightening the pen on the desk. "I heard Mr. Blackwood has a girlfriend. I'm someone who doesn't mess with anyone, so please don't make it hard for me."
At the birthday party last night, I assumed the person Lucas had been holding was probably Sebastian's girlfriend. Sebastian seemed to realize something, licking his lips. "No, I don't have one."
"Please leave, Mr. Blackwood. I won't tell Lucas about today."
Sebastian wanted to say more, but I had already shut the door on him.
Men can be really troublesome sometimes.
But I didn't expect the real trouble to come later.
