When Zanen turned to leave with me, Lucas was so enraged that he smashed all the bottles of alcohol in the room.
I followed Zanen into his brand-new luxury car.
"Lucas, is he your friend? Why is he so aggressive?"
Zanen tapped the steering wheel, looking at me with interest.
"He used to pursue you. Don't you remember?"
The car was spacious. I nestled into his side, feeling wronged.
"You know I'm face-blind. People who've pursued me? I've already forgotten them all."
Zanen smiled and pulled me closer, pressing me against the window.
Just then, his phone vibrated violently in his pocket.
In the past, they used to swap contacts in my phone as part of their game.
But today, it seemed they didn't have time for that.
The screen showed "Lucas."
However, the voice that came through was Sebastian's.
His breath was heavy, but he tried to keep it light.
"Vivian, where are you? I'll come pick you up."
So, he hadn't reacted earlier because he was waiting to intercept me.
I struggled to breathe under the pressure, gasping for air, but Zanen held me down.
Yesterday, it was Sebastian who got close to me like this.
But today, I couldn't even find him in the crowd when I went back.
Lost in thought, Zanen purposely applied more force, causing me to let out a muffled gasp.
The room went silent, and then Sebastian's voice cracked.
"Zanen! How dare you touch her?"
Zanen kissed me deeply, and I didn't have enough energy to react. When I was cornered, I pushed his shoulder.
"Phone... it seems like someone is saying something..."
Zanen threw the phone onto the backseat, and Sebastian's voice immediately stopped.
"It's just a nuisance call."
I didn't expose him, instead, focusing on sitting in the passenger seat, smoothing my skirt. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a luxury car following us.
Unlike Lucas, a second-rate rich kid who knew nothing, Sebastian at least had a career. He was the only son of the Blackwood family, and they had high expectations for him.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that he was mature beyond his years.
Over the years, the most rebellious thing he'd done was impersonate Lucas. The second was chasing cars on the elevated highway.
Zanen glanced at the rearview mirror, quietly pressing the accelerator.
After losing Sebastian, Zanen took me to his home.
Maybe Zanen had forgotten, but I'd been here before when I was with Lucas.
Back then, he said one of his friends was sick and asked me to bring over some medicine.
Zanen's face was flushed as he opened the door. When he saw me, he froze for a moment, awkwardly adjusting his coat.
Looking back, maybe Lucas had already been planning this game from then on. Zanen nibbled on my ear, pressing me against the floor-to-ceiling window.
"What's on your mind?"
My ears tingled, and I tried to pull away, but he pulled me back into his arms.
"I was thinking whether I should still make the cake."
Zanen let me go and laughed. "It's just a birthday. Why are you so concerned?"
"Why? Don't you care?"
Zanen's phone kept ringing—sometimes it was Sebastian, sometimes it was Lucas—but he didn't pick up any of them.
He grabbed my leg and pulled me closer. "Of course I care, I care a lot."
