I told Celine to head to the event first.
I, however, had a blind date I couldn't cancel.
Arriving at the cafe, I sat down across from a young man.
Smiling, I said, "Sorry, I have work later and can't stay long."
The young man smiled back. "Indra, don't you recognize me?"
I looked at him, pulling a slightly embarrassed smile.
"I'm Edward Marlowe," he said, scratching his head. "Then again, with Leander around, why would you have noticed me?"
I remembered then. Among the group that used to follow Leander, there had indeed been someone named Edward.
I sipped my juice and casually changed the subject. "I heard you've taken over your family's trading company."
Edward nodded. "And my aunt mentioned you're a photographer now?"
"Just making a living," I replied.
All my memories of that time revolved around Leander. Those youthful days weren't something I wanted to dwell on.
After a brief chat, I excused myself and left.
Outside the cafe, I saw Leander.
Leander leaned against his car, a cigarette between his lips. As he lowered his head to light it, he glanced up at me with his deep eyes.
Smoke curled from his lips, blurring his face.
For a moment, I thought I was hallucinating.
My gaze lingered on him for a second before I turned and walked away.
He followed behind me, his tone mocking: "A blind date with Edward? That desperate to get married?"
I ignored him and kept walking.
"Where are you headed? I'll give you a ride."
I stopped and turned to face him. "Leave me alone."
He lowered his gaze, laughing softly. Behind his glasses, his eyes held a chilling edge:
"Fine, but Edward dared to go on a date with you? I should at least rough him up a bit."
Time seemed to rewind to years ago.
Back then, he had been just as reckless.
After all these years, he hadn't changed at all.
