Chapter 11

　　Meadow's partner was named Howard Carr. He was the heir to the Howard family of L City, and Peyton's college classmate.
　　Howard had the charm of a sea king and the heart of one. He was used to the heavy makeup and extravagant allure of women. One day, out of the blue, he took an interest in Meadow, whose simplicity was like plain water. At his most passionate, Howard raised his glass to Peyton and said, "When I'm not around, if she runs into trouble, you've got to help her out, man."
　　But, in the end, even love couldn't overcome the divide of family.
　　After a dramatic episode involving a bank card, Meadow left the country. Howard, once more, returned to his carefree playboy ways. That was, until this year, when Meadow returned to the country.
　　She had found success in her career and, at her welcome-back banquet, she thanked her classmates and friends for their past help. When the party ended and the car arrived to pick her up, Peyton noticed the child in her car. The child's eyes and facial features had a strong resemblance to Howard.
　　Meadow simply shook her head. "Don't tell him."
　　Peyton agreed, unwilling to interfere in others' matters.
　　Perhaps it was the change of environment, or maybe something else, but the child fell ill and cried nonstop. Meadow was desperate and called Peyton for help. It was that night that Peyton and I's repressed emotions exploded.
