Chapter 7

　　By the time I reached Sebastian's side, the party was already halfway through.
　　"Mr. Mccann, I just ran into a rogue. It scared me to death."
　　Sebastian reached out and pulled me closer.
　　"Then stay by my side and don't wander off."
　　I nodded, though my mind had already drifted elsewhere.
　　When Laylah and Percival entered, I could clearly feel that Kierra's gaze toward me had changed. It seemed that Percival had confessed something to her.
　　One of those things had to be that I was Piper, the one he casually used to pass time during the moments when Kierra was absent.
　　And the other was my relationship with Emery.
　　Halfway through the evening, Laylah made a big announcement.
　　She linked arms with Percival and, in front of the distinguished guests, announced that they would soon be engaged. I clapped sincerely from my seat and offered my congratulations.
　　Percival's face, however, didn't look too pleasant.
　　Sebastian pinched my waist and whispered in my ear, "Piper, when are we getting married?" I was filled with confusion.
　　Has he gone mad?
　　We've only slept together once—does that mean we're getting married now?
　　As for this, I said, playing around is fine, but marriage, forget it.
　　Emery was far harder to deceive than Percival.
　　I still wanted to play around in this world for a while longer, I didn't want to get tangled up in emotional debts.
　　Seeing me lower my head in silence, Emery pinched the soft flesh of my waist sharply. I almost cried out in surprise, glaring at him resentfully.

　　As the banquet was about to end, Emery decided to leave early.
　　As his nominal wife, I naturally had to accompany him. To my surprise, Violet chased after us.
　　"Mr. Mccann, We must have some kind of connection. How about you stick around and have some fun for a while?"
　　I was about to decline when she spoke again. "There's going to be a women's activity soon." A women's activity?
　　I was curious.
　　To satisfy my curiosity, I decided to stay.
　　"I'll come pick you up when it's over." Emery left after saying that.
　　Is it really necessary to go this far for a one-night affair? I silently asked the system in my mind.
　　The system was silent for a moment before replying, 【I suggest you stay away from this Emery. He definitely doesn't have good intentions.】 I nodded in agreement.
