I Stayed Silent. I wanted to continue hearing his inner thoughts, but Sebastian Everleigh couldn't hold back and handed me his phone.
He asked, "How do you want to spend our wedding anniversary tomorrow?"
Looking at the words "wedding anniversary," I couldn't help but recall the past two years. We had never celebrated this day or sat down for a meal together.
I shook my head and turned away. "If you have something to do, just go ahead and do it."
Sebastian Everleigh typed again, "I'm free."
I hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "You decide. I'm okay with anything."
When we got home, Sebastian Everleigh's mother was still awake. We sat and talked for a while before he led me upstairs, intending to take me to the master bedroom. I quickly pulled my hand away and declined, "The doctor said you need more rest."
Sebastian Everleigh followed me, trying to pull me in, but I hurried into the guest bedroom and locked the door behind me. I called out through the door, "Get some rest, honey."
A minute later, he finally left.
The next morning, I went downstairs for breakfast and was surprised to find Sebastian still there.
Normally, he skipped breakfast and went straight to work, but today he was sitting at the table. The food in front of him hadn't been touched. He seemed to be waiting for someone.
The housekeeper saw me and quickly pulled out a chair. "Madam, Sebastian has been waiting for you."
I glanced at him picking up his chopsticks and quietly said, "I slept in, and by the time I got up, my food had already gone cold. Don't wait for me next time." Sebastian Everleigh didn't speak, and I looked up at him, only then remembering he couldn't talk.
I took a bite of porridge and added, "I was a little tired last night, so I don't want to go too far today."
Sebastian Everleigh looked up at me, his brows lightly furrowed.
[We didn't do anything last night. Why is she tired?]
[Did she... handle it on her own? I should install a monitor.]
I almost spit out the soup I hadn't swallowed yet, but still ended up choking on it. I turned my head and clutched my chest, coughing violently.
I reached for a tissue, but I found Sebastian Everleigh had come over, holding a tissue to my mouth and wiping it. He opened his mouth as if he wanted to speak.
I quickly said, "I'm fine, don't speak."
Once my coughing stopped and my flushed face returned to normal, he went back to the table and silently finished his meal.
Before he left for work, he had his secretary tell me that he would pick me up at 3 PM for our anniversary. I agreed and took the dress he had bought for me in advance.
