Yes, my face was even redder.
Because just moments ago, Felix hadn't only brushed my hand—he had also curled his little finger around mine. He was deliberately trying to humiliate me.
I raised my hand to touch my cheek. "It's too warm in here."
Felix raised an eyebrow. "Really hot?"
No, it's because of you, I thought.
I avoided his gaze. "Yes, it's hot."
He didn't call me out. Instead, he reached up to tuck a stray lock of hair behind my ear. "You're right—it's hot. You're sweating." His fingers still carried the evidence of my sweat.
He deliberately curled his fingers, grinding my sweat against his skin, all while Lucas watched.
The gesture was loaded with unspoken meaning.
It reminded me of that year when we secretly dated behind our parents' backs, getting into trouble together.
My heart pounded in my chest, and I wanted to ask Felix what exactly he planned to do.
It was as if he could read my thoughts. With a sly grin, he called out, "Lucas."
Lucas responded, "Felix, what's up?"
Felix smiled, his voice smooth. "Libby and I had planned to have dinner together. If you're free, why don't you join us?"
His words echoed in my mind, over and over: "Join us."
He really did want me to lose my mind.
I pushed Lucas lightly. "Don't you have work? You should go ahead."
Lucas responded gently. "Alright."
But Felix interrupted. "Health is more important than work, brother-in-law. Don't you think?"
He insisted on keeping Lucas around.
I was shaking all over.
The three of us walked out of the supermarket, the breeze brushing against us. The warmth of the air was undeniable, but I felt a chill deep in my bones. Felix couldn't stand seeing me with any man, so he forced his way between Lucas and me.
He looked directly at Lucas, but his words were aimed at me.
"Libby's becoming more and more inconsiderate. Lucas has been working for so long, but she still hasn't let him eat first."
"You used to be different with me, Libby," he added with a teasing grin. "You always said I was the most important one, that work could wait." As soon as those words left his mouth, I saw Lucas's face darken, his expression souring.
A cold pang shot through my chest.
Felix truly wanted to destroy me.
Thankfully, Lucas didn't make a scene. Instead, he gave a small smile and said, "No, you're mistaken. Libby's always been good to me."
"She even cooks for me all the time."
"Whenever I'm sick, she takes care of me."
"She really loves me."
Felix's face twisted with rage, his voice turning venomous.
"So, Libby really loves you, huh?"
