Felix??!!
My mind went blank. I froze for a long moment before I finally whispered, "...Felix?"
"Felix?" Lucas turned, offering a polite handshake. "Hello, I'm Lucas, Libby's fiancé."
I hadn't expected to see Felix here. I was terrified he would say something that would make everything worse, and my anxiety kept me from even breathing.
"Lucas? Fiancé?" Felix's eyes flicked to my face, his cold gaze masking a fleeting flash of ice before his smile returned. "I'm Libby's brother. I'm not sure if she's mentioned me."
I had never mentioned anything about my family to Lucas.
"Oh, she did mention it," Lucas lied to ease the awkwardness. "Libby said she has a very good brother."
"A good brother?" Felix raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing at the corner of his lips. His mood seemed quite good as he teased, "Really? I thought she'd tell you something else."
"Something else? What do you mean?" Lucas asked, confused.
My heart skipped a beat, my hands clenched into fists by my sides, and cold sweat dripped down my back. If you looked closely, you could see that even my posture had become stiff.
Felix didn't respond to Lucas's question. Instead, he turned to me, smirking provocatively. "Libby, why's your face so red?" Lucas immediately focused on me, his expression turning to concern. "Are you feeling unwell?" Yes, I felt terrible, like I might die any second.
I forced a smile. "No, I'm fine."
The buzzing in my temples felt like I was about to pass out. A voice from behind called out impatiently, "Are you going to pay or not? If not, move aside."
Lucas tried to scan the payment, but Felix stopped him. "With a brother like me around, how could I let you pay?" I knew Felix was saying this deliberately.
Lucas's face flashed with embarrassment, and he reluctantly put his phone away, stepping back two paces to give Felix space.
The rich scent of sandalwood flooded my senses, and I trembled uncontrollably.
It felt like if I stayed another second, I'd collapse.
After paying, I quickly picked up the bags and walked ahead.
With every step, my heart sank deeper. I wished more than anything that this was all just a dream.
Suddenly, the bag in my hand was snatched away.
I looked up and saw Felix standing beside me.
I held my breath, afraid Lucas might notice something.
As we passed by, Felix's fingers brushed against the back of my hand.
The heat from his touch sent a shock through my body.
My heart nearly stopped.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Lucas was distracted, looking down at his phone. Only then did my heartbeat slow a little. But as I unintentionally locked eyes with Felix, my entire body shook. He had promised not to let me off easy—and it seemed like he meant it.
I tried to avoid the situation too clearly, but Lucas noticed and asked, "What's wrong?" I suppressed my panic and shook my head. "Nothing." Felix smiled. "Libby, why is your face even redder?"
