I suddenly opened my eyes to see Victoria's worried face.
The video I had seen before my death was still fresh in my mind.
In a reflex, I grabbed the glass of water on the table and splashed it at her.
She jumped up in a panic, glaring at me angrily.
"Miss, have I wronged you in some way? Why are you humiliating me like this?"
Realizing the strange stares from those around me, I gradually calmed down.
Looking around, I realized I was in a restaurant.
"What's going on?"
Hearing Julian Moore's voice, a tremor ran through my heart.
"Mr. Moore, I don't know if Miss Adelaide has some misunderstanding of me," she said. "Just a moment ago, I was thanking her for introducing me to you, and the next thing I know, she's splashing water at me."
Julian placed a hand on my shoulder, leaned down slightly, and gently asked, "Adelaide, is there something wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
I stared at Julian's eyes, my nose growing slightly sore.
Then it hit me. Today was the day Victoria had invited me out to dinner with Julian Moore, as a thank you.
"I… I'm fine."
I lowered my head, my thoughts a tangled mess.
"Miss Harrington, Adelaide would never harm someone without reason."
"Since you've upset my wife, I don't think this meal is necessary anymore."
With that, Julian Moore kindly draped my coat over my shoulders and led me out of the restaurant.
In the car, I asked him, "Aren't you going to ask why I splashed her with water?"
Julian gently stroked my head.
"If it weren't for you asking me for help, I would have never had any interaction with her. How she is, that's none of my concern, as long as you're not hurt. Adelaide, I will always be your pillar of support."
I stared at Julian in a daze, emotions swirling in my heart.
Was this second chance granted by fate meant to help me stop Julian from falling in love with someone else?
Right now, Julian had only known Victoria Harrington for a short time, their interactions were still shallow—there was still time to sever their connection completely.
I had loved Julian for ten years, and every future I envisioned was intertwined with him.
How could such feelings be so easily discarded?
Lost in my thoughts, the car engine roared to life, and I reached for the seatbelt.
But instead of the usual clasp, my fingers brushed against a square object.
I took it out to find it was a lipstick.
The shade was so bright and bold that it would never have been in my makeup bag.
I suddenly recalled that Victoria Harrington had mentioned losing a limited-edition lipstick earlier that day.
This car was Julian's beloved luxury car, and no one else had ever sat in it except for me.
I clenched the lipstick tightly, turned my head to look out the window, hiding my tears.
Julian said he had work to attend to and told me to head home alone.
I sat on the couch, staring at a number on my phone that didn't have a name attached. I stared for a long time before finally taking a deep breath and hitting the call button.
To my surprise, the call was answered almost immediately.
"Sebastian Wentworth, do you remember that you owe me a wish?"
My voice trembled as I spoke.
My father had once saved Sebastian's life.
After my father passed away, Sebastian, in gratitude, promised to fulfill three wishes for me.
My first wish was for Sebastian to provide the best treatment for my sick mother.
He kept his word, but in the end, my mother still passed away.
My second wish was for him to discreetly invest in Julian's new business venture when it was just starting out.
I still remember when Sebastian had looked at me with a complex expression and said:
"Your last wish, I hope you'll keep it for yourself."
Now, years later, I had finally decided to make that wish come true for myself.
"I need you to arrange a new identity for me, so I can start a new life abroad."
