"Seraphina, what are you doing here?"
With a loud bang, something in my head exploded.
I was immediately alert.
Furiously, I demanded, "Who's in there with you?"
He stood in front of me, blocking my view. "There's no one."
I saw the white down jacket discarded on the floor. It was unmistakable.
"It's Eleanor, isn't it?"
"Alexander, who is it?"
Eleanor walked over, wrapped in a towel, clutching her chest.
Her hair was disheveled, and bruises and marks were visible on the exposed skin.
She covered her mouth in shock when she saw me. "Seraphina, you're so inconsiderate. What are you doing knocking on my brother's door at this hour?"
I ignored her and stared at Alexander. "I've called you over a dozen times. Didn't you hear?"
His face darkened. "My phone was on silent."
"Alexander, you're disgusting. I'm staying right next door!"
"Seraphina, we didn't do anything," he stammered.
I took a deep breath and slapped him across the face.
"The engagement isn't even annulled yet. Are you really this impatient?"
Eleanor looked startled. "What engagement? Aren't you his sister?"
I slapped her across the face. "You believe anything, don't you? Fool. You just met him, and you're already in bed with him. How shameless."
Eleanor screamed, "Ah, you dare hit me? You're the real disgrace."
Alexander stepped in, pushing her aside, but then shoved me as well. "Seraphina, that's enough!"
I collapsed onto the floor, my world going black.
