Back on the train, Alexander's attitude toward me changed drastically.
He showered me with concern, making sure I was comfortable.
Eleanor tried to start several conversations with him, but he ignored her completely.
I couldn't help but smirk.
For my sake, he could certainly keep his distance from other women.
Alexander handed me a freshly peeled apple. "Seraphina, we're almost there. Are you tired? Would you like me to massage your calves?"
Eleanor bit her lip, her eyes burning with jealousy.
I took a bite of the apple. "Sure, my calves are really sore."
Without hesitation, Alexander gently placed my legs on his lap and began to massage them.
Eleanor fumed in her seat, glaring at us.
At last, there was quiet.
As we neared the final station, Alexander left for the restroom.
Eleanor kicked me under the table. "What's going on between you and Alexander?"
I kicked back. "None of your business."
She suddenly stood up and leaned toward me, her voice low. "Don't think just because you're a little pretty, you can get close to him. I don't care what your relationship is, but I've got my eyes on him. If you know what's good for you, stay away."
I looked at her, amused. "You just happened to be on the same train, and now you're interested in him? Is it his face you're after, or is it the luxury watch on his wrist?"
Eleanor didn't deny it. "So what if I did?"
I raised an eyebrow, impressed. "Sibling relationship."
She sat back, satisfied. "That's good. You'll be calling me sister-in-law soon enough. By the way, even if I'm your sister, I don't like seeing you two too close."
I was speechless. Why were they all so confident?
Eleanor believed it so easily. It seemed we didn't look anything like a couple.
