Then, the next day, he lost his memory.
"How much trauma did it take?"
I regretted it in my heart.
His phone rang, he turned it off with one hand and replied to a message.
"Did you really lose your memory?" I asked him.
I chose this moment too deliberately, it felt a little forced.
"Yes," he answered calmly.
"But you remember everything, yet you don't remember who I am?"
"Yes." He put down his phone. "Who are you?"
Who am I?
This question had never been asked by Kendrick.
From the very beginning, we both knew the names, appearances, and family backgrounds of our intended spouses.
"Given this situation in your room, who else could I be?"
"My wife?"
"I've heard the rumors—people are saying you and your wife are just a fake couple," I said with a smirk. "And didn't your assistant just update you about the divorce?"
"So, who are you?"
He leaned back against the leather chair, his sharp features half-hidden in the shadow cast by the gray curtains.
He was always so composed.
Unmoved by me.
"I'm your employee's wife."
His brows slightly twitched.
"We shouldn't be doing this." I faced his stern gaze, speaking seriously, "You beast."
"That's impossible." He said firmly.
Yeah, he's got so much self-control, you'd think he's living by some kind of strict vow of chastity.
He treated me like a demon, as if any deviation from the rules was unthinkable.
I looked around the absurd bedroom, then tilted my head and asked, "Is it?"
The evidence was overwhelming.
He was the one who broke the rules.
"You drugged me?" He looked annoyed.
"I don't do suicidal things."
He stared deeply at me, his lips twitching: "So, you're the wife of one of my employees?"
"Yes, that's right. I'm your employee's wife, and we shouldn't be doing this."
He pushed up his glasses, his palm pressing down, warning me: "Get off my lap."
I wrapped my arms around his neck. "You didn't say that last night. You're two-faced."
Kendrick directly yanked me off him.
He stood up and neatly buttoned his black shirt collar.
