That night, Killian and I lay in the same bed.
This guy said he was afraid that if I left, he would become strange again, tugging at the hem of my clothes to keep me from going.
His face was half-covered by the blanket, with only his wet eyes visible.
I could hear the sound of me swallowing, and I was pretty sure the butler downstairs could hear it too.
Killian solemnly declared: "I'm really scared. My memory is all jumbled, and you're the only one I recognize. If you don't keep an eye on me, what if that Ms. Hart gets to me?"
I: "...First, his name is Ms. Jimenez. Second, you're scared, but where should I put your hand?"
I quickly pressed down on his hand that had landed on my waist and gave it a firm slap.
Killian sucked in a sharp breath, sounding somewhat aggrieved: "Hiss, Patricia Calderon, that hurts! You're not going to abuse me later, right?"
Before I could respond, he continued talking to himself: "It's okay. Hit me, scold me, that's love. My wife can hit me, it's deserved."
I couldn't believe that this flirt was playing the role of a domineering CEO. I seriously wondered what was wrong with the world's setting.
Before falling into a deep sleep, I heard Killian whisper in my ear, his voice low and filled with frustration: "I liked you so much, how could we have missed out on so much time?"
It was obvious he was genuinely upset.
I groggily grabbed his hand and placed it on my cheek: "Maybe because this is just a novel."
In the novel's setting, I'm just a passerby in Killian's life.
Had I not discovered that Killian liked me too, I would have just watched them end up together and left at the end.
Killian drew closer, his warm breath brushing against my eyelashes, then his soft lips pressed against the corner of my lips.
His voice was firm, as if to prove something: "Patricia Calderon, I'm not fake."
"I know." I could hardly keep my eyes open, only raising my arm to pull him into my embrace, rubbing him fiercely like I would a big puppy.
I had been timid for so long, not because I wanted to follow the fate set out in the book, but because I thought Killian didn't like me.
But now, hugging Killian felt like holding the moon.
The moon willingly came to me, and no one would be able to take it away.
What I didn't expect was that Lorena Jimenez would be the first one to approach me.
She held a cup of coffee and sized me up from head to toe: "Are you a task player too?"
She revealed her cards with just one sentence.
I think I kind of get why they chose her for the role of the sweet, innocent female lead.
In terms of IQ, she really fit the role.
I gave her a faint glance: "Can you guess?"
