Chapter 5

　　One week later, I was nearly recovered.
　　Alexander's grandmother called to invite us over for a meal, and Alexander said he would pick me up at nine o'clock.
　　But by nine, Alexander's phone was unreachable.
　　After a long time, I decided to drive myself and go to accompany his grandmother.
　　As soon as I got out of the car, I received a strange text message: "Miss Isabella, Senior Montgomery forgot his phone. He's with me now."
　　The message was followed by a photo of Alexander's profile.
　　"I hope you'll be sensible. Senior Montgomery and you are not meant for each other. We're the right match; we can discuss medical challenges together."
　　"And you? Do you even have anything to talk about? It's better if you accept it early—you two are bound to separate."
　　"Don't be greedy for what doesn't belong to you."
　　The angle of the photo made it obvious it was taken secretly.
　　I couldn't help but laugh.
　　Just as I was about to reply, Alexander's grandmother walked out and warmly took my hand. "Isabella, where's Alex? Didn't he come with you?"
　　I smiled and shook my head. "He's busy. I came to keep you company instead. I hope you don't mind?"
　　"I like you! Everyone's here, come on in and eat!"
　　I quietly turned off my phone.
　　At the family dinner, I sat beside his grandmother.
　　I had to drink with relatives and deal with the small talk from distant relatives.
　　Throughout the meal, there was an empty spot next to me—Alexander never showed up.
　　More than an hour later, his grandmother took a call. "Alex, yes—Isabella is right here, just beside me."
　　Grandmother gestured for me to take the phone.
　　I suppressed my frustration and asked, "What's going on?"
　　"Wait for me. I'll be there soon."
　　"Okay."
　　I hung up the phone with a sigh and continued eating.
　　He is really a foolish man.
